  5. great looking bike
  6. Correct They have a special kevlar tip with woven material All the other systems on the market rely on automotive solutions that have been used on a bicycle ... Dont know how to embed a video but here is the PinkBike Review with all you need to know https://m.pinkbike.com/news/first-look-a-new-take-on-the-tire-plug-the-stans-dart.html
  7. it works with ALL SEALANTS - but for the special " 2nd function " it reacts with Stan's Sealant to seal up even quicker than normal.
  8. sorry - those are purchased via Tange and are welded etc at our frame vendor in Taiwan. So we don't have any stock on this side. as mentioned above, they are available in the US etc from some of the smaller frame builders - but price with the Rand is kinda scary at the moment ...
  9. Wow - just wow!!! this bike looks incredible - well done!
  10. wow - thanks for sharing. Great build.
  11. thanks for the support - GP500 looks great!!!
  12. thanks guys - nice to see some LOVE for our Cromo/Steel hardtails. some recent pics of the ST-F ( which is the FIXED DROPOUT - no sliders - version ). Limited stock in all sizes left at R 5,995 incl VAT>
  13. brilliant - looks fun!!!
  14. awesome to read this - would love to see a pic of the bike with the ShockStop stem fitted etc.
  15. awesome - tks guys. the main challenge will be our numbers for sure. comments about colors - it was our 2017 range that really sucked! the 2018 and 2019 stuff is alot better but unfortunately you don't see them in many shops ... but agree 2017 we did not do ourselves any favors! the 2020 range is about to get updated on the site -- colors are VERY MUCH ON POINT --- we are not a niche brand in anyway so we have to respect the good old 80/20 rule for that. we have to do 100 frames minimum to justify this kind of project -- so if we split it over 3 sizes it is just over 30 per size --- a tough ask in the current climate. but let's see. Next question -- anyone seen the really cool new Evil Gravel Bike? ( some spy pics popping up on Radavist etc ) I really like that bike! what about a MONSTER CROSS GRAVEL bike? is that not more where things are going for SA riding? would love to do something in that space ...
  16. wooohoo - that looks great, well done!!! we've had these frames in stock for 2.5 years! pity they are not as popular as we would have hoped - but seeing these builds and how awesome they can be " interpreted " it really makes us want to UPDATE it for 2021 --- the biggest challenge is the cost/development/tooling on frames require a certain MOQ to be achieved for it to be viable. out of interest, what would you guys like to see in a MY21 version of the ST-R? ( actually the above bike is a ST-F with Fixed Dropout ) some questions: 1. ST-R or ST-F 2. keep 29er? 3. Head Angle? 4. How many Frame Sizes ... comment above about how a MODERN GEO frame can work with smaller " t-shirt label size " is very true - some brands even do 1 SIZE per model - you might lose the fringe sizes but the majority of the market will suit a GOOD MEDIUM frame? 5. Tyre Size 6. Rim Width - this effects tyre size in terms of outer diameter and clearance 7. Price in Rands that would make it interesting ... Regards, Victor
  17. the V1 dates back to a time when 2.1 was KING and the idea of a 2.35 on a Stage Race/Marathon / XCO bike seems crazy. The original V1 frames were on the market in around 2012? so a good +5 years in terms of MTB trends. the newer ST-R and ST-F are more 2017 onwards in terms of their geo and design. will there be a 2020 ... ?
  18. don't have any experience with the Angle Set headsets - but if only a bearing - it should be fine. the issue is when you change the fork axle to crown which raises the BB and adds leverage on the entire front end of the bike - frame was designed around a 100 to 120mm fork travel. if the Angle Set is merely effecting fork angle it sounds like a good idea if your main intention is to slacken the front end a bit. you could achieve similar results by playing with volume of tyre etc. or different stems or saddle positioning etc. alot of variables
  19. thanks for the feedback and kind words guys! as someone mentioned the ENDURO HARDTAIL is a small , niche, discerning market here in SA - whilst we do like the style and definitely would love to have 1 in our range - the numbers required to justify the design / tooling ( yes, we pay for moulds and unique tube profiles and bends etc ) / stock etc. are just not there. The ST-R Version 2 was designed as a Steel 29er that could be used for a variety of riding styles - from SingleSpeed 29er fun to XC Racing and probably really nice as a Adventure/Touring/MonsterCross bike too -- we tried to cover as much as possible in terms of what someone would have either "lying around" to build it up or " dream spec " it up at a store. from what we have seen - there has been a healthy mix of both " scenarios ". the key outline on the V2.0 is: -- updated geometry compared to the original - a bit slacker and longer -- 100 to 120mm fork compatibility -- taper headtube -- 142 Rear Thru-Axle ( to fit your old non Boost wheels you might have lying around ) -- revised frame sizing - true S, M, L , XL ( i.e. 15/17/19/21" ) compared to the original S, M, L ( which were 17, 19, 21" and confused everyone ) Never say never .... but for now we don't have plans to do a V3.0 as we still have a fair bit of stock of the ST-R frames still on hand ... again, a very niche and discerning market. it is however GREAT to see the builds and creative bikes being put together using our ST-R ( and the ST-F ) frames - kinda makes it all worthwhile - even though it makes almost ZERO business sense in terms of what we sell etc. keep sharing the pics pls
  20. hi, to answer your questions; 1. the frames were designed for a 100 to 120mm fork - the max we suggest is a 130mm before you throw out the angles and raise the BB to the point that the bike will not handle well 2. not a good idea, we designed those frames for normal MTB / XC / Touring setups --- so a 21 to 23mm internal width rim is the preferred choice. you could bump it up a bit and use some skinnier rubber - but a 30mm rim is overkill for the frame and will probably not be able to clear the rear stays. sounds like you looking for more of a TRAIL HARDTAIL? check out the UK brands - they have some options that might be better suited to a 150mm fork setup.
  21. sorry about that - we are not planning to load RRP to our website - our bikes are typically 10 to 15% less than "International" brands and a call to your nearest dealer would give you the most accurate price/offer on a particular model. They can also check stock availability via our B2B website. an XT bike from us is similar price to an XT bike from another brand - just better priced and often better specced ... a simple phonecall will guarantee you the best deal from the dealer nearest you
  22. thanks - yes, our JSL20 is significantly lighter than just about every other true MTB with 20" wheels in the market. we made some small changes to the spec in 2019 and one of the "upgrades" which we felt was necessary was the addition of a SEAT QR to ensure easy saddle height adjustment when out and about with a child. the bad news is that we are sold out and will not be getting any more stock until later this year -- you could contact our office on 041-3721418 to check who bought our last bikes and try to find one.
  23. hi Wimmas, agree - less stockists but those that have bikes are stocking more depth. the local economy taking some punches and effecting what retailers can afford to carry on their floors. our AL range is still our "bread-and-butter" and we have JUST LANDED the entry level AL029 / 129 bikes. the past 12 months has seen growth in the Gravel range as we were arguably the first local brand to really embrace the category - our R355 CARBON was a big success for us! New 2019 stock just arrived as well - including the more affordable R355 ONE CARBON -- now with SHIMANO 105. our VIPA ULTRA is our focus for now in the HIGH-END -- with stock of the SIZE 02 ( the L/XL size ) just having arrived in SA as well as COMPLETE BUILDS on the VIPA ULTRA in SRAM XO1.
  24. BICYCLING SA Mag giving our new "budget-friendly" CARBON GRAVEL R355 ONE some serious love in their Annual Buyer's Guide Issue. These arrive on Monday ---- and will be available in limited sizes / qty from Authorized Dealers. --- Shimano 2 x 11 Drivetrain ( yes, we were asked for more gears! ) --- Carbon Frame and Fork --- based on our very popular 2018 R355 model but down specced to hit a slightly lower pricepoint and offer SHIMANO drivetrain Priced around the R 41,500 mark --- to be confirmed on arrival.
