  1. Ok - can't figure out how to remove this post, so will just update. Watch was found and returned. Many thanks to Mike in Hilton
  2. I took a tumble in the forests near Wedgwood in Hilton, early Saturday morning. Specifically, it happened at the gap jump in the pines near the Wedgwood boundary. Unfortunately I didn't notice that my watch had come off. If anyone finds it, please call me on 082 5597709
  3. Hi Eppie - please email pics of the mavics to gregperrett1@gmail.com. Thanks, Greg
  4. Hi Eppie - I am not sorted, and still interested. Please send the pictures. ThanksGreg
  5. Hi again guys - my post got lost in the traffic....! I'm looking for 80's rims for a Paletti Luciano. Gipiemme, Mavic, FIR Please let me know if anyone has anything. Thanks, Greg.
  6. Love the Atlanta's Warren, but would like something a little older for the Paletti.
  7. Hi guys I have an 80's Paletti Luciano with full Shimano 600. It's a lovely bike, and I'll shortly put up some pics, for those of you who didn't see the original pics I put up 5 years ago. I am looking for two things please: 1. Information on where I can get the frame re chromed. 2. A set of rims from that period - Gipiemme, Mavic, FIR. I have considered Campy, and indeed actually have an Omega on it at the moment, but it seems odd to have Campy rims on a bike with a full Shimano 600 group set. I'd be very grateful for any help available. Thanks Greg
  8. Er... Ok, but then if I want to buy, tell me that you would like to wait a few days to find a local buyer if possible, and you'll call me if you don't manage to do that. At least then I know where I stand. But don't be a tjop and say you'll sell to me, and then just drop me for a local chap. To my mind, we just need to try and be open with one another, and, as someone said earlier, treat each other as we'd like to be treated. So true....
  9. Wrong. You committed to buyer 1 at R8500 and need to give him at least a chance to pay the deposit. Tell him how long - 24 hours, maybe?
  10. And I think (but I'm not a lawyer) that a verbal offer and acceptance is a contract
  11. Have changed my mind about my reply to Martinpe. I actually don't think it should go to the first person to put money in. This leads to all sorts of problems like 2 people paying at the same time, and then one of them has to try and get his money back (if it is electronically paid, of course). If a buyer commits, you are obliged to work with him AT THE PRICE AGREED, until the sale is done.
  12. No real issue with this, but I agree that it must be stated up front.
  13. If you buy off the HUB, please note that it's not an auction site. If a seller advertises and someone gets in before you, don't try to secure the item by offering a higher price. The seller set a price, the buyer accepted. Case closed. If another person then offers the seller a higher price, it places the seller in a very awkward position, and is totally unfair on the buyer. Otherwise, set up a section for auctions, and then we all know where we stand.

    Sickness

I'm in line with Kletterer. Eat well, sleep well. Gargle with salt and warm water when you feel something going on. Keep going 'til it hopefully goes. Salt seems to kill the bugs, and is great for sore throats. Doesn't taste great, though. The KEY, in my view: wash your hands as often as you can - when training for an ultra event, I might do it 10 or 12 times a day. DON'T touch your eyes, nose, or mouth with your hands... I drive my wife nuts when I rub my itchy nose on my sleeve!! Haven't had anything more serious than a slight sniffle for many years, and have done some heavy training in that time. Good luck finding what works for you....
