  1. Morning, Sorry not sure if this is in the right section? Has anyone got the 94.7 route in a format I could use to open in MapSource (Garmin Mapping Software) want to load some of the "waypoints" in my Gecko 201 which has a bike mount. Thanks jedimastersa2008-10-22 00:19:31
  2. If someone falls and no one is there to hear it' date=' is he still classied as a roadie? [/quote'] jedimastersa2008-10-17 00:05:22
  3. Just yesterday afternoon Poenster and I where riding the spruit. When we came across a downed rider, who had fallen pretty hard at the one "stream" crossing. This guy's mates where going so fast they did not even hear him fall, luckily it was not serious but it could have been worse. Espicially with all the issues going on in the spruit. Great words of advice DV, whish everyone could get a read of this!
  4. Sorry if this is under the wrong section. I am new to the above mentioned area, does anybody know of any descent tracks/rides in the area? I ride a lot on the farm roads etc at a risk though I have heard of the local farmers being a but p!$$3d at the MTB's and Quad bikes etc riding on their property, how true it is I am not sure. I never enter "No Entry" zones or climb over fences or anything like that and I have never been asked to leave or anything like that yet either. I was wondering if there was anywhere else in the area you could recommend ( Besides the Reitvlei rides)?
  5. USN Cytopower HP works great for me!
  6. So there is no need to remove the BB, to clean it out on a regular basis? jedimastersa2008-10-13 02:13:19
  7. Hi, As you can see not posted for a L-O-N-G while. I recently gave up my road bike for an MTB and enjoying it very much. Just wondering if anyone can provide some pointers or advice on maintaining the bike correctly as to prevent problems with the bike. A friend of mine also with an MTB, who took his bike in for a service, was told that due to improper maintenance of the bike he needed to replace a number of parts, including the bottom bracket... for the 2nd time. jedimastersa2008-10-13 01:56:14
  8. Are "R" roads considered to be national roads? If so is it not also illegal to be cycling on them then?
  9. Did anybody do the River Rotary Festival race yesterday? What did you think? Poenster and myself did the 40km ride, the route was really nice, and it was quick, did a really good time as far as we where concerned, just one thing that bothered me and not sure if anybody else felt the same? We started at Stonehaven and about 1km after the start, we turned of the normal quite roads onto the R57 (If I'm not mistaken), nice double laned "highway", which had a really broad shoulder.... This shoulder eventually whittled down into nothing and we found ourselves racing on the dual lane highway, I found it a little scary when there where busses or trucks coming past in the slow lane, as well as cars trying to fight through the cyclists to get to their off ramps, on the way back I saw there was an almost accident where a cyclist almost ended up getting knocked down by a motorist trying to get to the off ramp. Some motorists where getting irritated and hooted at cyclists etc etc etc etc........ Then the dual lane became a single lane...not nice at all... Not that we like to complain but with all the incidents going around lately with cyclists getting knocked down, and then certain posts on this Forum about us cyclists not obeying the road rules (Id10t Cyclists), surely the event organisers could have a different route organised...?
  10. Not to be rude and shoot down anybodies ideas, but do you really think they could get the licenses thing right? If they can't even get car licenses and drivers licenses right? The next thing you know you'll be able to buy fake licenses and plates for your ride....
  11. Okay okay now I'm confused.... Where do I fight in I ride a Hybrid....? Do I side with the roadies or do I side with the MTB's? Has anybody read the editors report/feedback in the latest bicycling mag? Interesting, touches on this subject a bit.... jedimastersa2007-03-19 01:24:00
  12. I have two words for you the last one is "OFF!" They just managed to get telephones there so I am sure dail up is an option...
  13. Are there any Hubbers staying out in Carletonville? For those of you who do not know where that is its on the FAR FAR FAR West Rand! Was there over the weekend visiting family, and of course the bicycle came along, went for a ride on Sunday morning, did not see another cyclist on the road at all which was quiote sad... lol, suppose they could have been at the Argus, but I have not seen any cyclist's there before either... If there are was hoping to touch base, maybe next time I'm out there we could organise a ride or something?
  14. What ladies that rode past us... I wasn't there.... It's nice to know that other cyclists out there agree and that there are other cyclist's out there that want to keep it clean and make the best of it and are going to behave as best they can not to give it a bad name! jedimastersa2007-02-19 00:55:09
  15. Careful, Man with no name, I may be forced to use the force or even my lightsaber! It for reasons like this and others though, where they are going to start implmenting rules like they have in running where you cannot participate in a race unless you belong to a club. I have noticed many similar situations before, and I have just recently started cycling. Even in races where the the so called "pro" wil have some serious words with you for the smallest of mistakes, everyone has to start somewhere and you going to make a mistake, I accept and apologise, but its when people are just arrogant that hacks me off.... During the Tshwane Capital classic, where we had "complete" road closure on the N4, some old toppie had some words with my mate and I cause we where riding next to each other and he was coming past us, we where in the left lane and he had the whole right lane to pass us or even the shoulder if he really wanted to, but no, we had to go single file for him to pass, there where no cars for km's... jedimastersa2007-02-18 09:50:07
  16. Ya, who needs these Gu packs and energy bars. Maybe a plan! I'd rather not though with the swollen lip and all! Nevermind the bruised ego and laughing girlfriend this morning! jedimastersa2007-02-12 04:15:34

  18. Please be aware when riding with your mouth open, as I tend to do generally cause I am puffing and panting so much, that a insect does not fly into your mouth and sting you on your lip! lol Doing my usual monday morning ride early today, I was pushing it down Conrad drive in Blairgowrie (well according to me anyeway), doing about 70km/h and a bee flew into my mouth...and with me trying to get it out the little bastard stung me on the inside of my lip! Suppose I am luckly he did not sting my throat! Thank goodness I am not allergic and I was close to home, it looked like I was in the ring the Layla Ali for a few seconds or so... Maybe a suggestion if you are allergic or if you don't know if you are to put some antihystamein in your saddle bag or something to that effect
