  1. sweat! good luck with your venture. what will the domain be?
  2. Agteros you cannot ignore the physical (and the mathematics) world that this takes place in. So please do not destroy the credibility of my statements. Secondly, the law is mere social constructions and is never permanent. It changes over time and from one society to the next. The law is changable and VERY debateable. Just for interest sake belgium has a whole host of laws govern group sizes and how a group should behave exactly. It works and everybody seems to be happy. Presently the South African Government has a lot more important issues to deal with that bicycle laws. So in the meantime I WILL do what I think is safest and best. Cat-i what I mean't by win-win situation, is that it makes a bad situation for motorists a bit better and safer for both.
  3. As a fellow cyclist I am shocked of your ignorance towards group safety on the road. In case you didn't know this. But once a group is more than 4 it safer to ride double file, if it is more than 8-10 it is safer to bunch up as it creates a nice compact group. Which makes it safer and easier to overtake and riders can have a chit-chat..win win situation
  4. Lotus do you suggest a group of 30 should ride single file?
  5. This is where the key lies for organisers. Too change the opinions of people like porky. This an opinion shared by most, as it is the truth. Cycling in South Africa has very little spectator value and a spectator standing by the finish line, doesn't get too see what happened and its unlikely that he/she will ever be able to find out with the qaulity of post-event PR. What is ideal would be big screen TV's feeding an live stream with commentary. But that is an impossiblity for South African cycling until races are capable of attracting a couple thousand of spectators. For now organisers should look into lap racing (im not saying 45min criteriums, which by the way the number of which should also increase). Maybe having an 100-120km loop and 50-60km on a 5km lap at the end is the best solution to bring racing to the people. Racing should also be brought closer towards the suburbs and residential area's, instead in the middle of nowhere, so the average south african can actually attend these races. This is where races like the zoo lake and tour of soweto has got right. This promotes the sport of cycling greatly. Finally racing should not be done at such unearthly times as it currently is done. I mean having a race finish at 8-9am....how big is the crowd going to be??
  6. Bruce/Austin can you please organise a race for us, and show these local organisers how it gets done!!!!
  7. Since the riders that was selected to compete at the worldchampionship for the national team had to cover most of their costs,(except for kit - that was sponsored - sort of) to participate in this year's world champs. And According to the incentive system of csa it mean't that they only spend a measly R10 000 on 5 riders(2000 rand per head) at this year's worldchamps. Do you think this incentive system is fair and appropiate? Is the real question not maybe, "do you think csa really support our riders?"
  8. I dont think its qaulifies as advertising skelmpie2009-09-23 13:27:31
  9. I dont know what skietpiet is trying to say or if he is just mocking somebody, but point is Johan is a do()S for reverting to such tactics. Waylon if you knew him a little bit more intimately you would have known he is actually shyish and a down to earth guy. Is not that he did something wrong, is was just despicable tactics from neotel. I dont think we should turn a blind eye and allow such tactics. skelmpie2009-08-23 23:23:48
  10. Yeah I saw this happen. It was about 3km from the finish and it was really insane in the bunch with a 150odd guys coming in together..Reinardt,from toyota was the guy that was pulled. It seem like a Theo Bos on Daryl Impey move, except Reinardt didn't go flying into the barriers. What happened was Reinardt and Nolan(rabie's teammate) was fighting to get Malcolm's wheel and Nolan was losing the battle, so here comes Rabie out of nowhere grabs Reinardt on the shirt and pulls him to the complete opposite of the road, so Nolan could get Mel's wheel.....I mean how unsportmanslike is that! anyway Reinardt just klapped his arm away and reclaimed his position back onto Mel's wheel. Afterwards when I came in I checked them having a huge scuffle with managers in between. Apparently what happend was Reinardt went over to tune Rabie about it and Rabie got all aggresive and pushed him around a bit, but the managers came luckily before any fists was thrown. Just saw that they didn't seem to be too happy with each other.
  11. Yeah saw Jonty rhodes just the otherday in the lab looking at mtb's
  12. hahaha that money will just go down the drain somewhere in "development" like the money they get from races, lotto and sascoc.
  13. umm if they can just send the guys over..that will be gr8 for a start... We qualified a team for tour de'l avenir(the biggest u23 tour in the world) and geuss what!? no team going!
