Bloody ridiculous to finish a stage on a descent like that' date=' if you ask me. Just too risky. [/quote']

Descending is a skill that is just as important as climbing.  Look at Menchov, he probably lost the Tour today because he couldn't hold a wheel on the way down.  Difficult, yes, ridiculous, no.  If it's too dangerous, just slow down and live to fight another day.

Very true. My comment was based on what I read. I had the impression of a road descent like the MTB Dalco descent at Lake Garda (now off limits due to risk). Now that I've seen the video, the descent doesn't look more dangerous than any other really.

  2. The rules say that "Obstruction in the final sprint" may result in relegation or disqualification.

Clearly Sauser was in front, and Paulissen rode into him when he saw the barrier ahead obstructing his side. It does not look to me like Sauser moved from his line at all, he just held it. Paulissen didn't (and couldn't without running the risk of hitting the barrier up ahead). I can't see why Sauser would have to have moved inwards to leave space for Paulissen because the barrier wasn't straight; the barrier was obstructing Paulissen, not Sauser. Furthermore, it does not look like Paulissen would have won the sprint if they didn't collide - he wasn't making much progress.

Sauser has thirty days to lodge a written appeal to an appeal board. IMO he should win his appeal.

Rear hanger on the RM4. Are they model specific or would one from the RM5 or RM7 work on the RM4?

Hey' date=' I can help you there. I bought a RM7 hanger and it fits my RM4. Not cheap though if you think what it is. Almost bought a new RM4 just for the spares.

There you go, who needs an agent for answers - they're all here!

  4. I was going to get a pair, but have been very put off by reviews up to now - so good to hear what people who've ridden them think.

linnega - it seems you have a bit of an issue with the stack height - would be interesting to know how they fare on our rocky terrain? Did you have any issues with your shoe - pedal interface?

  5. OK, so uphillers have right of way.

I'll still routinely pull off for downhillers if I sneak uphill on singletrack:

    1. Often I see them before they see me.

    2. It may be easier for me to stop if they're flying.

    3. I need the rest :-)

    4. I want them to have a good time.

On a personal note' date=' the loooong track should be down only if itcan take the abuse. It is just too goooood and fast to allow for up traffic. If only for saftey reasons.

Yes I know we must give way to the ppl going up but if the majority go down you let go...............

Mmm, sort of supports what I feel.

If I worked my mielie off climbing to the top of the hill to blast down I don't want someone spoiling it for me who's climbing up the track.

Unidirectional trails allow for easy rules. If you are caught by a faster rider let them pass.

Maybe have a 'reversal' once a week or at night or whatever for variety?

I also think that trails are built differently depending on direction of travel and can be designed to last better for unidirectional flow.

  7.

I'll go against the flow and say that all singletrack should be unidirectional. It can be down (mostly) or up though, depending on how it's designed and what the intended 'loop' is.

Trails are getting too full now to have bidirectional traffic. Arrows and no entry signs at the start of singletrack sections are called for.

For what it's worth, I believe the rider heading downhill should have right of way whilst trails are unmarked as they are now. (the opposite to downhill on jeeptrack). I expect the rider climbing up to get out the way, but prefer not to have any along the way as there's no convention and I'd have to slow down not knowing what they think. (Clearly I now realise you all think diff to me - sorry for blasting you off the trackOuchConfusedWink)

Loved the punt for supporting overpriced american production at the end of the super6 review thought I would loose my breakfast' date=' that said - sounds like an awesome bike[/quote']

Agree, does not come across as the most 'independent' of reviews. Can't imagine them giving Specialized a bad review, for eg.

You'll find that you won't be too fat from knee over pedal spindle to cause injury' date=' well unless you have high ape factor

Unless your bike is sized completely wrong, and therein lies the rub!

Thats why I prefer Mountain Biking !!! You hardly see this k@k happenig in MTBNG

True - the 'culture' of doping seems not to be ingrained in the MTB world.

I can think of a few dopers though:

    Jerome Chiotti

    Filip Meirhaege (?sp)

Didn't Paula Pezzo have some 'beef with lots of testo' in it for dinner once?

I think some of the downhillers (Wade Booth) got banned for dagga!Wink

    others....?
