  1. My linkage bearings seized (after perhaps a less than ideal service following the Imana wild ride). Santa Cruz sent me a whole new frame. No Questions asked by LBS or SC. Believe the hype!
  2. Bikehub AGAIN 1st in world with new bike news? What's happening here?
  3. Good grief - there is some rather poor info on here. Go see your doctor and if he can't explain to the value of a 24 hour ambulatory BP test in your setting, or explain to you how that would better calculate your risk and plan your therapy, ask for a referral to a physician with an interest in hypertension.
  4. I think you guys are missing Burry's point. Yesterday, he was actually asking and aswering the question to himself - why did they not gift a stage to 360Life, as 36One were leading and likely winners and they should share the spoils, His answer (to himself and us) I think was perfectly justifyable - firstly "no gifts" (they might have a mechanical and not win) and secondly he didn't feel that 360Life did enough to warrant a gift on this stage. All fair comment IMO. Today's tweet though suggests he's picked up the negative vibe round his comments BUT still didn't gift them a stage.Still needs some PR training though. I wonder whether 360two are expecting or hoping for gifts now? Would it help their relationship ;-)
  5. Hope you're not too heavy or too rough a rider; else expect to buy a new pair in a year.
  6. Laugh at that "assometer" from Spesh - you don't sit anywhere near where that measures! See here:img]http://http://www.stevehoggbikefitting.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/PELVIS-REAR-VIEW--500x281.jpg[/img
  7. Well done - finally common sense is prevailing! Need more of those though and that's where the fights are going to start.
  8. Ascent http://www.montebellosoftware.com/index.html
  9. Second the Feedback Pro - just great. Read the reviews....
  10. My wife settled on the WTB speed she.
  11. I haven't seen any of these "rules" posted anywhere at Tokai, nor have I seen them applied. To me it looks like the ascenders generally give way, like I do. It is much easier to do that, and interrupts flow much less IMO. I appreciate there is disagreement and no clear consensus so I ride carefully (and nowadays very early or very late to avoid too many poeple with no clear idea) I agree that singletracks can go uphill - don't get me wrong. Just that our trails are now too full to have bidirectional traffic. Some should be marked down and some up and they will be safe for all to enjoy. To my mind the fight should be about which direction the existing trails should be marked as. A few flat ones could even be birectional with big warnings.
  12. Cool, but why not just join on velogames - all done for you? http://velogames.com/tdf11index.php
  13. I'm afraid I genuinly don't know anyone who feels like you do - everyone I ride with (and I mingle with the lycra not baggy crowd) consider the singletrack to be downhill priority (ride uphill, but at your own risk and preferably when the trails are quiet). It's much safer and more fun that way. It now just needs a sign for you. All trail centres in the UK have unidirectional trails for these reasons. Some up, some down. No reason Tokai can't have the same. Trails need to be build differently in any way for down and uphills. Steepness is one side of it, but switchbacks, camber, berms, etc all different.
  14. Time to measure your own max: Take longish, steady uphill, ride harder harder and harder till at max...THEN SPRINT till collapse and vomit. Remeber to look down at HR monitor before collapse.
  15. I ride some singletrack uphill but always give way to people coming down. In the jeeptracks I feel I have right of way going up and hold my line (as per IMBA), but gerenally ride on the LHS of the road. I feel that ALL singletarck should be marked one way in Tokai - there are just too many people to allow bidirectional trails. Most people would hate to have the fun of a downhill run interrupted by people riding up - me included, so I get out of the their way. I expect all uphillers on singletrack to move out of my way too. When the track is relatively flat is becomes a problem (which way is actually uphill) - hence still need right of way signage. IT IS TIME FOR ONE WAY SIGNAGE ON ALL TRACKS IN TOKAI!
  16. Moved my cleats back as part of dealing with metatarsal pain ,and after reading I'm sure some of what you did - much happier.
  17. I think I would classify my riding as enduro XC, but sometimes I like to do a bit of all-mountain lite. What bike would you guys suggest I use for each of those?
  18. Lived in Edinburgh for 5 years - awesome (though wet and dark) riding. Great trail centres, excellent access rights (any path anywhere can be ridden on in Scotland), lots of long distance adventure routes, etc. Get a light, a mudguard, a winter singlespeed, warm clothes and ride.
  19. Assuming all the bits are indeed 10 speed, I agree with Oli G - FD tuning needed. Nothing wrong with that chain.
  20. Must say I tried hard to like Mary bars, but in the end went back to 9 degree sweep. They just didn't do it for me. Look forward to your complete build post.
  21. I've had issues for ages - these are my solutions: 1. Looosen the straps somewhat - can make a dramatic difference 2. Ride with cleat postion behind ball of foot (I ddidn't like arch cleats - google it - but 1cm behind works great 3. Get specialized inner soles with a metatarsal button 4. Get custom inner soles with a metatarsal wedge
  22. In Edinburgh I also learned my lesson - never commute on a nice bike (stolen), never commute even with a nice seatpost or saddle (stolen), never use clipless Times on bike (stolen), never leave lights even a little red reflector on (stolen). (I'm a slow learner) Yup - spend no more than 60quid on a painted second hand fixie (all flat in towns in any way) and lock your weekend bike in your room! Enjoy!
