  1. Yesterday Roglic lost some time on purpose, because today he will attack and the others will just look at Jonas and Kuss, thinking that one of them will go for the GC win.. but it was always Roglic. TJV pulled out their uno reverse card, and outplayed everyone including us spectators.. Well played and congratulations to Primoz Roglic.
  2. Remco died as soon as Vuelta entered France
  3. it was Catalonian separatists if I remember correctly
  4. Just another normal day in the La Vuelta: Found the press release - https://www.policia.es/_es/comunicacion_prensa_detalle.php?ID=15873 Specifically, the agents surprised the detainees in a wooded area in the Solsonès region of Ilerdense at the moment when they were about to activate a device that would spill hundreds of litres of liquid as the squad of the Cycling Tour of Spain passed by. 2023 in its stage this Monday, August 28, between the towns of Suria (Barcelona) and Arinsal (Andorra). The device consisted of two drums, with a capacity of 200 litres each, as well as an activation device with a solenoid valve and a timer. The mechanism was hidden among the vegetation, including the hose that was going to pour the liquid and that extended to the aforementioned road, making it difficult to detect. The localized liquid, similar to motor oil, is pending analysis by Forensic Science specialists to determine its final composition. The investigation has been carried out by agents of the General Information Commissioner and the Provincial Information Brigade of Barcelona, under the direction of the Court of First Instance and Instruction of Solsona (Lleida). In addition, specialists from the General Police Station for Scientific Police and the Higher Police Headquarters of Catalonia have participated in the final operation. The agents have verified that those arrested adopted numerous security measures to avoid their detection and surveillance. At the time of their arrest, none of them had a mobile phone and they had used secondary paths –of difficult passability- to get to the point where they had installed the mechanism. 7. Team Jumbo-Visma Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic will lead Team Jumbo-Visma at the Vuelta a España. They will be supported by Sepp Kuss, Wilco Kelderman, Attila Valter, Jan Tratnik, Robert Gesink and Dylan van Baarle. They are the strongest looking team on paper. Probably get a 2min lead on everyone in the TTT, get up the first two weeks with the Jumbo train and cross the line holding hands. Once they have a 30min lead over everyone else, a game of rock-paper-scissors decides who takes the red jersey to Madrid. UAE Joao Almeida, Juan Ayuso, Finn Fisher-Black, Juan Sebastián Molano, Oliveira bros, Soler and Vine. Strong group of riders but UAE is generally a beautiful mess, reminiscent of Movistar, without Pogacar. Is it bident, a trident, or a fork? Even if their GC bid goes belly up they could still contest for 6/7 stages. Soudal Quick-Step Remco Evenepoel, Andrea Bagioli, Mattia Cattaneo, Jan Hirt, James Knox, Casper Pedersen, Pieter Serry, Louis Vervaeke The general consensus is that this is gonna be a weak team in the mountains and Remco has very little support but it doesn't matter. Jumbo and UAE will be battling each other. How Remco does this will just depend on his individual level. He just needs to follow Jumbo and UAE. Movistar Enric Mas, 2nd in the 2022 race, returns into racing after his crash in the Tour and will be the leader of a roster also including Spanish road race champion Oier Lazkano. The lineup is completed by Colombia’s Einer Rubio, Portuguese duo Nelson Oliveira / Ruben Guerreiro and Spaniards Iván García Cortina, Jorge Arcas and Carlos Verona. Movistar is either gonna be completely invisible or absolutely chaotic. Let’s see if Mas can return to the lofty heights of last year after his crash in the Tour this year. Best of the Rest Geraint Thomas. Gonna be tough for the old dog with such a stacked lineup. Barring crashes and illnesses, I can't see him able to reach the podium. Aleksandr Vlasov hasn’t really had a good year so far but looked decent at the Vuelta a Burgos so hopefully, his form will improve. As usual, EF left their press release to the last minute so I haven't bothered to look at it. Young Guns FDJ is bringing a young squad, including 2 future great French hopes, only to end in tears a la, Tibot Pinot. Martinez and Gregoire ride in their first grand tour. It will be interesting to watch them, especially as they probably have the freedom to go for stages and won't have to defend 9th place in GC for Gaudu. Jayco AlUla names young and hungry team that could be exciting with Dunbar and Zana in Giro form. DSM also bring 2 GT debutants, Max Poole & Oscar Onley, both will be looking for their first WT wins after both have looked promising in their first year as a Pro.
  8. Ayuso spearpoint with Soler trying to drag Almeida back to the front in the background or Soler just doing Soler things by himself. 4 very strong climbers though if Vine can stay on his bike
  9. you have clearly not seen UAE race without Pogacar
  10. well if they didn't spend a third of their budget on Froomey and the rest on geriatrics they could probably get a decent team together

  14. the only thing that is certain is that WvA will come 2nd
  15. did you actually bother to read the article? Not respecting instructions of the organizer due to not attending the mix zone after the podium presentation at the start. Understandably, Pogacar was not fined for missing the post-race mix zone due to him informing the UCI he was feeling unwell and exhausted.
  16. Only 230k to get to the coffee shop 16sec before my friend on our weekly 2/5 century ride.
  17. UCI holds onto broadcasting rights like their balls. They only give them out to the highest bidder, even if the highest bidders media service sucks (flo bikes etc.). These scummy media companies then want a return on their investment. Hence, they lock the race behind an exorbitant paywall, only giving us a little taste of the event to try and tempt us into buying their service. Basically, UCI is greedy, media companies are greedy, and the consumer gets screwed. The UCI and media companies have no faith in growing the sport so they milk it for all its worth for a quick buck.
