  4. Good point but i believe the 69er only came into being as gary fisher was frightened to go the whole hog and change the frame, i think now that the 29er is here to stay the 69er will disappear.
  5. I am slowly building my 29 er from parts purchased both new and on the hub, but here's the thing, my riding partner said he heard that the powers that be, i.e CSA are thinking of categorizing 29ers into their own class,as tandems are at the moment. has anyboby heard something along these lines or is it bull?
  6. Shimano 105 P.M sent Stephan, nice bike I will be breaking my current 26" hardtail and I have a great fork which I'll let go or swap. 7. I want to build up a 29er hardtail and I was looking online at forks and wheel sets, Has anyone any comments on the "Marzocchi 44 TST2 Air fork" and the "WTB laser disc trail 29" wheels" both are in my price range but i don't know whether they are good or not. Also does "Joes or Stans " do a 29" tubeless conversion kit. Any recommendations for frames gladly accepted, not carbon as I am 85kg

  10. Can anybody tell me who can manufacture or supply a new deraileur hanger for an old Orbea team hardtail mtb, snapped mine this last weekend
  11. I agree with Johan, you will easily find a decent frame for next to nothing on here or look at www.bikebay.co.za, I sold a Scott scale frame, brand new never been riden for R500 on bike bay and I purchased an Orbea team frame for R600 you will find it great fun building up a bike from scratch. good luck
  12. I bought a set of deore 535 disc brakes from a hubber but the hoses are too short. I am about to order a few meters of Fibrax brake hose from CRC Is the fibrax hose good for Shimano brakes? Do I also need to order the olives and inserts, if so how many? When I undo the holding nuts at both the lever end and the caliper end do I then just pull the old hose out? Is this something that an inexperianced home machanic should be looking at?
  13. Thanks for that Mud Dee, are we talking Avid Juicy 3 or something even cheeper? do you see these 2nd hand on this site?
  14. Help needed I am building my 1st hardtail after many years of riding full susser's, my question is; can I take my spair set of DT Swiss rims fitted for disc brakes, remove the rotors and expect them to be ok with "v brakes".
