  1. As a trail builder myself, I wish you guys all the best with the trail upgrade/maintenance. And just ignore the people complaining about ****...they just looking for attention. Rather stay focused and use the energy to build kick ass trails! Otherwise chase them with spades. The Paarl locals (xc and dh) know where to ride and how to respect each other. Just remember that you all share the same epic turf. I would not like to know what it would be like if Tokai dont exist anymore...think about it, it can happen. You guys have a special place to ride! Respect the architect.
  2. Thanx dude. No footage of the frog drop trick. That was a flop! 2011 is the year of recovering...so my fitness and training is taking a huge slide. That M9 sounds really inviting Yeah I agree with you regarding the lack of tracks and racing in the Western Cape, starting to get really frustrating. Just ironic that the Cape has such a great window for the tourism industry but the biking is just not happening due to all the land access issues and other laws. So far DH racing in the Cape is not looking so good, but who knows. Hopefully the DH community will get together and figure something out. Thank heavens for farms like Contermanskloof. We have the Neethling brothers, they have Minnaar. Giba is really awesome and the vibe is kool, everything close by for training. Yeah man give Chris Nixon a huge hug...that man has been doing amazing things! So during my off time I will be watching bike movies and focus on small things to keep my fitness level stable. Keep on shredding!
  3. I would like to give it a go in a wheelchair down a DH track...throw some whips. Biggest problem would be technical uphills
  4. But of course! Then you must see how fast I can push uphill
  5. AWESOME Duane How long you gonna be there? Bring back lots of footage. And remember that the fences are electrified and really close at the bottom of the bikeparks. Just ask Andries...he overshot a Tabletop and then crashed into a fence and well he was shocked...xcuse the pun Wish I could have joined...hopefully next time? And have fun
  6. To be honest, Eden was starting get a bit boring. Anyway Stellenbosch Municipality have already declared Eden for development years ago. Great initiative and will help the sport progress and not just survive. You definitely need the funds for new venues. Many landowners welcome the idea of having tracks on their farms, it increases their exposure and security. But many are greedy! Your idea for an interest bearing account is a sound plan where donations can go etc, we have to start looking after ourselves. Im starting to wonder where the sport can go and for that we have look more towards towns like Worcester, Franschoek, Swellendam, etc. Yes I am aware of distance and fuel consumption. But if you can go away for a whole weekend with special deals working with the farms, might breath new air in the sport. Look whats happening in the UK...entries are going for 50 pounds and SOLD OUT in a matter of hours, just because they have tracks built far and between. Some of that money is going to a trust fund especially for tracks and races. But then the marketing is also bigger there. I have listened to many racers over the years and many have great ideas and dont know how to implement them, but the majority wants new tracks for a change and a challenge, but around Cape Town. All want to play, but not pay. They rather pay R500 at a jol, than pay for a race. Unless the World Cup comes to Western Cape, which will be a huge boost and exposure to our sport.

Looking good dude...but why so slow Hope you got permission to build those jumps and berms. Majik Forest locals can get very "heated" about taking building matters in your own hands. TMBC looks after the tracks in that area. I got a nasty warning once!
  8. Well done guys for doing maintenance! Wish I stayed closer to Tokai to help you guys out. You Tokai locals should be proud of what you have. Not many people have such a beautiful forest to share and do all sort of activities. Not many people are willing to sacrifice their time to look after the tracks. Safety on a DH track is very important. You get every where XC riders going uphill on DH tracks, just because of a different feeling, additional skills training or just because it is a track. Here in Paarl its not just XC riders, but MX as well! Imagine doing the Tabletop and approaching from the landing side is a 250cc aiming straight at you!!! Fists will fly! But on a more serious note...we all have to respect each other on the tracks, whether pushing up or flying down at 25km/h. And use common sense when riding.
  9. Wazzzup bra! Yeah ive been MIA for a while. Working hectic at the moment and to make matters worse, some of us went riding on my bday when I crashed hard on the Wallride. Broke my hand badly....apparently I looked like a frog diving into an empty dam!! But it was such a kickass Wallride So im out for a few months...damn. But not all is doom and gloom. I am currently looking for new venues to build a new DH track. Just cant sit still. With an injury, it is difficult to stay fit. So hows your riding been? I saw you got a lovely Intense
  10. Dirt jumping helps alot when it comes to jumping and for more technical things. But more important is focus and mental preps. I do some XC, trail running, sprinting, kickboxing 3-4 times in a week, gym 3 times a week. Then just for fun take my DH bike for a spin when ever and where ever. So far I have been doing more kickboxing than riding due to work and other commitments and it really works your whole body, mind and spirit. So next time you hit a tree with style
  11. Dammit...another race I will miss due to my broken hand! Will maybe drop by to cheer
  12. I see Aaron Gwin was in Paarl for the Team photoshoot! BTW that is the Wallride in Playgrounds
  13. I used to ride a V10...Awesome bike!
