That lockout does not exsist, I looked for the same thing

Two Levers in ONE location. But have not been able to find it

RS / Scott makes a single lever that controls both Fork and Shock but so far I could not find a type that can control Fork and Shock in a single device

It will more than like need 4 leves or 2 leves and a two buttons

    Alright cool.
    Thanks though.

I kind of think this is reinventing the wheel a bit for a very marginally different riding experience.

I don't see the benefit in locking out the forks and not the rear as the bike will just feel like it's folding in half or squatting back in it's travel, which is rubbish when climbing.

Forks open with rear shock locked also kind of negates the geometry/suspension progression marriage.

That multi lever thing from DT swiss also looks hideous

Not marginal in my opinion. 👍🏼

  3. Hey guys! Something I’ve always wanted, but can’t seem to find, is a lockout remote ( 2 position: open and closed) that can individually lock out the fork, the shock or when pushing both levers, lock out both.
Essentially like having two Rockshox oneloc remotes, but in one.

Reason being, often times I want my fork locked and shock open when climbing steep loose terrain, and vice versa.

    anyone know of anything?
    🤔🤔

  4. How much play?

My KS Lev that I sold was about 7 years old and the play was minimal. The tip of the saddle moved max 5mm side-to-side.

As long as you don’t have forward and backward play it should be fine.

It seems excessive to me. I can't imagine how to measure the play. There's no forward or back, and no up and down, just twisting from side to side. Apparently it's the lower brass keys/bushings that could be worn, but sourcing them in SA is a mission/impossible.

  5. The Anthem any day. Comfortable bike, with loads of potential. For an AL frame it's surprisingly light too, and if it has a 2x drive train, you can cut that weight by going to 1x.

Thanks guys, might currently be looking at a 2nd hand bike but not sure if the warranty on the frame passes over to the new owner?

    Currently looking at:

    2017 Scott Spark 950 - 20k

    2018 Giant Anthem 2 - 25K

Will go visit a few bikes shops tomorrow in JHB / PTA to check out the available stock

  6. 3rd of fourth Pic from the bottom,is that the 2018 anthem advanced? (green and black) I have one now. I see you have a dropper? 27.2? What make is it? Looking around, only real option for me - particularly because of usable length and travel- is ks lev. Going to have to drop 6k on one of these bad boys...

My collection over 3 years. The itch is real

  7. Had a similar situation a few months back with a black mamba. Fortunately it seemed he was more scared of me then I was of him. Tell you what though, in that moment even n1no wouldnt have even had anything on the speed I was out of there. ????

Yesterday i was cruising down a jeep track in deer park (ct), and saw something resembling a log in the middle of the road. Then when i got close i realised its a puff adder crossing the road. Managed to stop within metre or 2 of striking distance.

This made me think - how does one handle such a situation when you cant stop? Go past head or tail, or through the middle? Bunny hop? Ride over it and hope it doesnt catch the spokes? Would love to hear others stories.

  8. Very smooth very well damped and controlled fork.

Travel adjustable from 80mm to 130mm for the 27.5 version by changing the air spring unit.

Air volume adjusters allow adjustment to the spring curve to allow more small bump sensitivity and bottom out control.

I rode one for two years and loved it. It didn't require as much maintenance as the fox I had before it and service intervals were similar at 50 hrs for air spring seals and 120 to 150hrs.

Very easy fork to live with.

not as torsionally stiff as a Lefty or Fox 34 SC but about the same as a fox 32 sc and rockshox sid.

still have the fork and looking for a suitable frame. Likely to be a pivot mach4 or LES 27.5

Really appreciate your insightful responses man. Awesome to be able to ask someone in the know.

    Cheers

  9. Roll more efficiently in what way and how is this measured?

Lovely Latin there dear fellow but if you do this you will realise that they get to the same point at the same time

We'll yes, YouTube reviews say that times are within a minute or two. That's very flipping close. ????????????

There are a lot of 9er fans around that haven't really been able to convince me of the major benefits of them. You guys have been a great help. Appreciate it okes.

  10. Can the anthem advanced 0 which the OP is talking about have the wheel set be upgraded to 29'?

Probably could. Many 650b bikes come with the ability to change to 9ers. But that would mean dropping at least another 15-20 grand to get carbon rims.

The rims on the Anthem are carbon.

  11.

I'd encourage you to give it a whirl and see how it feels.

the only draw backs I can see are

    • reduced availability of a wide range of XC racing oriented 27.5 tyres
    • wheelsize classicism on the trails

Really appreciate your feedback! I'll definitely do so.

  12. the 2016 with the RS-1 is a brilliant bike. The fork is nowhere near as flexy as reported by some especially in 27.5 guise as it has shorter upper legs so less displacement in the twisting.

27.5vs 29 well that neither here not there. I don't find there to be any difference in speed between a 27.5 vs a 29er with the gearing corrected for the appropriate development.

At the moment 27.5 XC bikes are selling quite cost effectively because Our market is 29er viskrik so you can pick up a great deal on the 27.5.Anthem.

If you're on the taller side of 1.8m then I'd say rather opt for a 29er. If shorter than 1.8m then its really how comfortable you feel on the bike. The 27.5 Anthem is a real rocket ship. Its very responsive to pedal input.

    so how tall are you?

how much are you paying for the Anthem if you are taking it?

    Im 1.8 on the dot.

I can pick one up that hasn't been used a lot at all for 28ish

  13. Hi guys. Reletively easy question.

What are your thoughts on the 2016 giant anthem advanced 0? (the one with the rs1 forks.)

    I think it's a beautiful bike, I'm just torn between a 29er and a 27.5.

My main question: given I'm as fit or fitter than guys on 29ers whilst doing climbs on xc, will I be really really less efficient?

It's not to say absolutely everybit of my riding is going to be xc. I'll be doing some trail now and then. I just don't want to be nehing all the 29er guys because I'm on a 27.5(650b)

    Appreciate it guys.
