  1. I've contacted Scott now. Just a bit annoyed because I've already had one warranty claim for the x-fusion rear shock when the bike was brand new. I also had the Sram SX Eagle derailleur break off which I found out could have been a warranty claim after I replaced it. At this point if it is a warranty claim I'm in half a mind to tell them to take the bike back and send me a new one
  2. I've been worried about these cause it doesn't look like a very "tough" coating to me but I've only had a Momsen with silver coating on the suntour fork and it's showing wear now and I think the bike is a 2015 model
  3. Agreed I'll definitely have it checked out I'm super OCD about my bikes so this scared me a bit lol
  4. I got the bike in November its a 2020 Scott Spark 970 so it's due for its first follow up service but I'll definitely take it in for a checkup on the shock. Its a RockShox Judy Silver. I thought it was strange and I'm kind of glad I saw it now
  5. Hello, I was hoping I could get some help- my mountain bike only has about 400km on it and I noticed some light scratches on my stanchion when I was washing it this morning after a muddy ride. Just wanted to know if this can be normal from use of the bicycle or if there's something I need to look out for and if I should take it in for a service. I don't ever spray water directly towards the fork and usually just wipe it down with a wet cloth when there is mud on the stanchion. I've attached a photo to the post so you can see.
  6. Ah I see then hopefully they do replace/repair it. Not sure how this could have happened on a new bicycle but I'm glad its getting sorted
  7. This is what I was talking about, hopefully we can get them. Do you have to be team vitality cycling to get these?
  8. I got my vitality active points with the HR being above a certain amount but was under the impression we could claim points for the event too or something
  9. I did take it through to Ridgeway they took the shock off the bike and put a loan on, also a x-fusion shock in the O2 range. Pumped the loan up to 150psi with the dudes at the shop and we got the 20-25% sag I was after. They're going to have a look at the shock and keep me updated but haven't heard anything yet.
  10. Has anyone been able to claim vitality points for this? I can't find anything on the Discovery website
  11. ah right that too, thanks!
  12. Hey guys, quick question for a noob, I've picked up my race number and racetec chip, first time I'm doing a race so only got one now. The chip comes with a plastic adapter thing to put behind the bolt of the wheel quick release and they say you HAVE to use that or buy an ankle strap, problem is my bike doesn't have a bolt like that so can't really put it there the way they want so can I just cable tie it to my fork or something?
  13. Thanks going to pull through on Saturday, bit worried cause I'm riding the 947 MTB on Sunday though. So we'll see what they say. Thanks for all the advice
  14. No it did decrease after adding more air, but probably about 1mm. Its on 15mm now with 240psi
  15. So I tried this method Cool so I tried this method and re-inflated it and reached 220psi but that was still not getting the sag right then pumped it up to 240psi and that still measures about 15mm of the 45mm stroke which is 33% It doesn't seem to be losing any air, I think I'll try pump it up a bit more and Saturday I'll take it to a shop that the Scott rep suggested, they said if they can't get it right they'll loan me a shock and send mine in for testing
  16. I have read the manual but it just says after installing and checking that there are no clearance issues one should continue to pump it up to the recommended sag 20-25%, so nothing specifically about negative air chamber So should I follow the process the_bob pointed out?
  17. Okay that's interesting I'll have to check, I never got the shock empty so wouldn't have noticed that but could make sense
  18. Alright cool, I would rather just not go through the whole warranty process if there's nothing wrong
  19. Will do, thanks. The person I am in contact with from Scott is setting something up with Ridgeway Cycles and I'm sure they will properly investigate this for me. So if if I get to around the 240-250psi mark its not going to damage seals or anything?
  20. I bought the bike from Cape Town and it was shipped to a shop here and they told me to contact the one I bought it from, kind of thought that the shop here would have set it up correctly. so I've sent out emails to the shop and Scott, so we'll see what happens when they reply.
  21. I was thinking of emptying the shock but wasn't sure if that was okay so I'll give the negative air chamber set up a shot once I hear back from the people I emailed. Thanks for the advice!
  22. Okay cool will do, this morning when I road it was comfortable but I'll double check the travel. Thanks????
  23. Hi all, this is my first post so if it's in the wrong section or something just let me know and I'll sort it out. So the reason why I'm asking is because I recently bought a 2020 Scott Spark 970 with a Xfsuion O2 Pro RL (165/45) rear shock and it's my first dual suspension bike now after taking it for the first ride the suspension was too soft and a friend of mine told me how to set up the sag and I did a bunch of research and then bought a shock pump. While trying to set it up I was pumping up to 200psi, the shock is limited at 280psi according to the Scott representative I spoke to earlier this week, and I was still not able to get 20-25% sag recommended by Xfusion setup guide (it was still sitting in the 30% range at 200psi). I only weigh about 82kg with all my gear which is why I thought 200psi was too high. At the moment after sitting on the bicycle the o-ring is about half way up the shock and this is with about 170psi. so as not to damage it I stopped trying to set it up and waited to get to my trails today where there is a shop that is well known in JHB South area. After myself and the guy at the shop tried to set up the sag again, he was also pumping over 200psi, he told me he reckons it's faulty. I guess I do trust his opinion but wanted to know if anyone with the same shock has had any similar issues or tips for me?
