  1. About seven months ago I bought new 105 5600 pedals. Mileage on them is now about 8000km. I love them, but one of the pedals now have play on the axle. I am under the impression it is possible to service the bearings on these. Is that correct? I hope so, because the pedals are still in good nick. Can anyone advise please?
  2. Thank you. I have just tested it, and all is well again.
  3. A few days ago when I went onto the Hub on my Cellphone (Ericsson C902) the format was different. I have to now again wade through the full page content to get to the sections I want to. Where did the mobile format go? I loved the mobile format. I loaded quickly and was very easy to navigate on the smaller screen of the phone? Did anything change?? I also logged onto the mobile adress. But it is the same.
  4. Started cycling in April again this year after a 15 year hiatus. Up to now I have done about 9500 km. Road only. Managed to get seeded in the B-group in our local vets racing series. I am satisfied. And I must say, I have never felt better, even when I cycled whilst at school. All of this after smoking for 10+ years. Quit 3 years ago.
  5. Thanks for all the replies. That explains it. It felt as if I was just a beginner on the bike with no fitness whatsoever. I didn't take the loss of red blood cells into consideration and now I will have to pay the price. It really sucks. The upside is that my body will think I am busy with Altitude training . It really sucks thought, because I was hitting a nice fitness level. I am even contemplating skipping the race on Sunday. And to top it off, I got a flat this morning. First one in six months!! I'll keep on riding though.
  6. I donated blood yesterday morning at about 09h00. At properly before hand and definitely afterwards. Went out for a ride this morning and it felt as if I have lost all my strength. Even the flats were a big ask at my normal pace at which I ride. I am not even talking about the hills. I was really flat and my heart rate went through the roof! I would like to know if the blood donation had anything to do with my state or is it just a general flatness. Before today's ride I took two days off the bike after a tough week-end. 75km on Sat and 105km on Sun, both at an ave speed of 32 km/h including some proper hills. Could it be that dreaded bonk after a rest day? What are some of the experiences of blood donors on the Hub? And, how long will it take before I am right as rain again. Racing 100km on Sunday!!!!
  7. I could say the same about your arse, but I just wouldn't know if it is clean. Same applies to my brake calipers, or my whole bike for that matter.
  8. I hear you, but I checked for that. It is the actual caliper that is sticky. Thing is, I don't want to grease it up as that would just attract road debris.
  9. The Ultegra brake calipers on my bike does not release fully after I have applied the brakes. The release enough so the brake block are not rubbing against the rim, but not far enough to put tension on the cable and subsequently the brake lever. This causes the brake lever to rattle on eneven surfaces because there is no cable tension to hold it against its stop. I have seen a type of tape on some Shimano brake calipers that is applied between caliper arms. Probably some graphite type of tape. Where can i get some of this. Other than the tape, is there another solution to my problem.
  10. I have recently upgraded to Dura-Ace 7800. Fantastic gruppo, especially for me who came from a Tiagra set-up. But the chain is problematic. I have twice now experienced linking pins working loose. This morning it left met stranded as the whole chain came off. I have taken great care in ensuring the pins are put back in the correct position. I am using a Rav-X chainbreaker. It is the new dura-ace chain with the hollow pins. Can someone please give advice in case I am doing it wrong. Or are there a specific way to do it? Thanks
  11. Not a bad idea, then I can go and buy that BBB saddle I saw for R380. But you will have to pay postage. So what you think. the BBB or the Fizik?? The worst bit is that I can only ride on the saddle on Monday as I will be away on work duties the whole week-end.
  12. Phew! I know it is a MB saddle, but the extra comfort will definately not go amiss on the roads in and around Port Elizabeth. Paris Roubaix everyday! I currently still use my 17 year old Rolls. It is time for an upgrade and the Tundra doesn't look out of place on a road bike.
  13. I just bought a Fizik Tundra for R500. It is brand new. (manganese rails). I bought it on impulse as the blue insert goes with my bar tape. Is it a bargain though? I think so, but I have been wrong plenty times in my life.
