  1. I am 106kg 1.94mt. I ride a Merida 120XT RC with Race Rekon 2.35 as standard equipment. My approximate pressures are as follows: Front 1.5 Bar Rear 1.8 Bar. These give me the best traction over the surfaces that I ride - vineyard trails, mountain trails - Lourensford etc. My tyres are tubeless. If you are still running tubes, you're going to need more air.... Trial and error at the end of the day.
  2. Thank you to all for the recommendations, comments etc. I appreciate the effort. I went for the Garmin Edge 530 and for the following reasons: - Fully integrated with my medical aid. - Components are in house and not third party. - Newer system / model. - In stock at time of purchase. So far, I did not find it a mission to set up. It was easy enough once I mastered which button did what. So now we will try it out and see how it goes.
  3. Alas no. At this stage Discovery discounts are determining which units are possible.
  4. I hear you. I am also wondering if the features of the 530 aren"t too much for me hence the turmoil. Thanks for the heads up. I will check DC Rainmaker now.
  5. I am in the market for a new computer. I am currently using a Polar watch and would like to upgrade to something mounted on the bars for ease of reference. I am in a quandary though. There is so much to choose from, however, I have whittled it down to 3 possibilities: 1. Wahoo Bolt 2. Garmin Edge 530, or 3. Garmin Edge130. Can anyone give positive or negative views on these units. Is it all getting so technical with all the data available that maybe the Edge 130 is the best route to follow???? I don't know. Anyone? Please! PS: This has been posted in Computers and Tech but there is not even one opinion after 35 views. Lost in the backroom.

  7. I recently designed my own item using Autodesk. Free download for 30 days and thereafter free for domestic use / non commercial gain. I have only ever designed basics things on Turbocad so was very hesitant. I soon got the hang of it. Saved the drawing to a .STL file. Emailed the .STL file to a chap with a 3D printer and voila. 4 samples later I was happy with the end result.
  8. Thank you to everyone that responded in any way, to those that shared the post on Whatsapp groups and Facebook, your efforts are greatly appreciated. To keep you posted. Cyclist was hit by a motor vehicle in the vicinity of Annandale Rd, SAPS has the perpetrator. If anyone may have witnessed this, your evidence would be most useful in putting this perpetrator away. FYI: after searching for answers, it appears that there were 3 cycling incidences on Saturday and another on Sunday. All of this along the R44. Be careful out there people.
  9. Thank you everyone for your response. An update is that he did go out in the morning but the exact time is unknown. I will follow up on the suggestions that have been forthcoming but in the meantime I have been to the area indicated by StefMeister. Am I correct in saying that I was on the climb in the vicinity of the armco barrier leading up to the Bike Hanger Co? If so, I walked it this afternoon. There was no obvious indication of vehicle contact ie lens glass, mirror glass although I did find a few pieces of vehicle plastic.
  10. Thanks Stefmeister. Do you perhaps have a location and time? I have received other info from Whatsapp after this was shared, so I really appreciate everyonea efforts. Regards, Peter
  11. This is an incredibly long shot. A friend of mine was out on Saturday afternoon (29 Feb) for a solo training ride on the R44 between Somerset West and Stellenbosch. At least this is the info that we have. When he failed arrive home his wife searched the route but found nothing. He was finally tracked down to Tygerberg hospital where he was in ICU with bleeding on the brain. We have no idea what happened or where it happened. Bike and cell phone are missing. He has been transferred to Medi-clinic where he has regained consciousness but his short term memory is affected. Is there anyone out there that might have some kind of information so that we can try and piece this whole lot together? .
  12. And there I had my hopes up..... Thanks for the heads up. Good work everyone.
  13. Good day All. Newbie to the forum here. Took to mountain biking 2 years ago due to injuries etc whilst attempting to do trail runs. At 50 years and 109 kg, at the time, trail running is NOT the ideal sport for you. However, Mountain biking is and has me completely hooked. Besides, you cannot sit around and do nothing! You will simply just cease up. Hear this you youngsters, stay active. Live in the Cape and currently riding a Silverback hardtail on the Wannabees trails and Lourensford farm. An awesome part of the world to train in and have fun. Itching to get into my first dual suspension. I look forward to contributing to this forum if and where I can and also from gaining useful insight into the vast experience that must exist here. Happy cycling. P
