During my voyages last year I came across a vitus 992 frameset which belonged to team Agrigel athlete and forgotten to a basement. Was in mint condition so I grabbed the chance and starting building it up as it rode back in 1996.
I cannot awnser to your question because its being done by a professional, the little things that I know is that he has removed the previous gold plating, or anodization, buffed it and gold plated as I believe then protected by clear lacquer.
Finally my frame restored and groupset has been finished and partialy gold plated. It was very challenging as shimano consist of tiny multiple pieces it not so easy as campagnolo to take out and put it back together. After lot of hours I have put it to its original state fully functioning. At least the result justifies my work
Yes that is correct, though my bike was missing several decals had little bit of paint chips back in the chain stays and the gold plating needed some refreshing. So that's why I will reproduce it as close as I can revieving the paint the lacquer the sticker and doing all over the gold lugs. Would be a tough one but a keeper though.
