  1. Club100 for sure!! Club rides on Saturday mornings with a mean breakfast afterwards at the Mugg... Is there anything better?!
  2. It does a helluva job, really protects your bike when travelling.
  3. Anyone know if it's possible to buy the clip that closes the box, seperately? It basically just comes off with an allen key. One of mine cracked a while ago. Looking to sell the bike box in any case - unless someone is willing to take it as is..
  4. MTN Microsoft will also be racing the Tour de Marocco. Going to be interesting to see how the National Team competes against this well drilled squad...
  5. No disrespect to the above mentioned riders, but for the life of me, I haven't heard of neither... Now it might be because they don't compete in JHB, but then I guess they haven't really made an impact anywhere else either. Sounds like you want to go to Marocco, desprinter...
  6. You people are MAD - I love it Dunno which is worse though lately, the wind or the temperature...!
  7. OMW NiNi - if you've been elected to sort certain sh*t out, we are in trouble aren't we..?! You don't even know that Nolan is goin to race in Germany, and that is why Sowerby is going to Marocco. Haha. Please mate - try and conceal your stupidity and not blatantly declare your ignorance on the net.
  8. The new wheels certainly aren't light with the top-level Rapide Star hitting the scales at 1750g for the pair. On the road, though, they were markedly easier to keep up to speed than lighter, non-aero wheels, and the additional weight wasn't terribly noticeable. If the Star concept proves successful, it seems logical that a carbon-hub version wouldn't be far off (can you say '2008'?). The new wheels will be offered in three interchangeable freehub varieties: Shimano 8/9 speed, Shimano 10 speed, and Campagnolo 10 speed.
  9. C'mon are you sh*tting me? Here's an idea to increase cadence, pedal faster or gear up !
  10. Oh my....who might you be speaking off...? No pun intended
  11. Also think we've 'forgotten' a bit about Ian. But agree with gumpole, regardless of how well a domestique does his job - they'll never get the exposure of say, 2nd rated sprinters. JL on the other hand...
  12. Davel might be alot of things, but fat? I don't think so. As for SA champ... Hmmm

  14. Love 'em or hate 'em ... ? Specialized road 2007 preview, Germany, July 2006
  15. Back to the leg stregthening.. I've found doing some work in the gym made a def. improvement to my riding. I try to hit the gym twice a week - for cycling IMO emphasis should be on repetition, not weight. Slightly increasing weight after a few sessions. After the leg exercises I like to jump on the bike, to spin the legs out, to stimulate the muscles and retain suppleness.
  16. That put aside - why is this post a 'tech shack' topic anyway ?
  17. Looking to buy a new Indoor trainer, winter is upon us! What would you guys recommend? Looking for a nice value for money (who doesnt!) trainer, that doesn't wake up the whole neighbourhood!!
  18. So Bikemax you dont think that double sessions are a good idea at all then ?! I've heard that you can specify your intensity and loads better when splitting a session. Say for instance have 2 x 2hr rides instead of a 4hr. Sure long rides are needed for endurance aswell.. Just an unknown topic for me I'm wandering upon.
  19. I'll give it a try bikemax, see how it pans out.. Maybe do a session in the morning then before breakfast, and then another session later day/evening with intensity.
  20. Ok, scrap the jogging then.. Not sure how effective a full training session would be on an empty stomach - no concerns regarding muscle fatigue/damage ?
  21. Thanks for all the advice.. What do you think of the idea - light workout before breakfast ?!
  22. Couldn't agree more with you, Sporza. The Cup of nations was the ideal stepping stone to get our lads into good, quality races. But just dumping them there a couple of days before the racing, one can't expect them to just adapt & get results. The racing intesity and distances are far different from what they experience in SA. Obviously the riders have sponsor obligations aswell, but it should be exposure enough for sponsors having their riders in the national team - and them then getting results. This can only be achieved by a longer stint in Europe in my opinion.
  23. Very informative article - tnx epoh. So in summarising it - running is good alernative exercise, increasing strength for climbing/sprinting. I'm considering going for a short jog in the mornings before breakfast - to boost metabolism. (These winter pounds are already packing round the waist ) Anything maybe on swimming?
