  1. I gather you dont read that well, or listen because it was all over the wireless and TV, on Supercycling etc. No wonder you're an EX chairman of a cycling club. You interests were not with cycling and your members or else you would have know.

Mootoo - I don't know where you're from but this was certainly not all over the wireless and TV in the Gauteng region or in the areas that was effected by the race. Stop defending an absolute shocking disaster.

  2. HEE-HAA!!!

Resolved - and you wont believe. It was acutally the rivets that hold the disc onto the middle mounting of the disc brake, that was a bit loose.

Up cheers to Alone at Solomon's who fixed this - after figuring it out together with the whizz from Shimano.

What to do to check yours: hold the brake tight, and push the bike lightly forwards and backwards, if teh wheel move a bit, check it out carefully. I first thought this movement was with the pads inside the caliper, but it is actually movement at the rivets.

So all great mystery's come to an end.  No pad change or disc size required. ;)

Thanks for all the info Guys.

Trapper what did they do to fix the movement on the rivets.

I have been informed by Northcliff Cycles (Thanks Alex) that the casing of the rear disk brake where it bolt onto the bike has been cracked. It seems that the alignment bolt was tightened to such an extend that it cracked the housing. Hope this will now resolve the issue. In future my 1st question to any LBS will be if they are using Torque wrenches to tighten bolts on bicycles and to see the paper with the recomended torque levels.

  3. where were the tacks? in the 'cycle lane', left of the road or strewn everywhere?

They were on the section from the Kloofzicht circle down the hill and on the Sterkfontein stretch - In both instances mainly in the yellow line section but difficult to say as you only realise a few hundred meters furtheraway that you're wheel are making funny noises or has gone flat

  4. Does anybody know where I can urgently find a 1 inch integrated headset for a friends Orbea. No dealer in Sa seems to be able to help us. Please PM me if you can assist

 Thanks to Johan at Yellow Saddle Cycling the problem is solved

  5. Very interesting discussion. I am looking at the Computrainer at the moment as I was not aware that the Imagic has all these additions. Where can I see all the info on Imagic and what it's capable of doing as it's a lot cheaper than the Computrainer.

Dis anybody do a comparison between Computrainer and I Magic.

  6. A number of cyclist start at Town Square on Hendrik Potgieter. Be careful - early this morning there was 4 very dodgy caracters walking around and checking every cyclist out. One of them fit the description of the Ontdekkers bikejackers. We did contact the police but no response. Broker2009-04-10 13:27:35

  9. One-time, I can only wish you luck and lots of patience. I battled with Specialized RSA (Eddie) for 4 months to sort out a cracked frame. Eventually I had to go to their warehouse and take a previous year frame - just to get something back

  10. I discovered yesterday that SAA will not like in previous years take our bicycles down to the Argus at no cost. All of a sudden you got to pay R 400 for that privilege. I was not told this when I originally back in Oct 2007 made my flight reservations. Paying to get my bike in Cape Town is still acceptable, if properly and timeously informed  - but why must this be paid at a Pick & Pay and does not form part of your Air ticket. There is no doubt in my mind that this is another scam to rip us cyclist off. I would like to know who pocket this fortune (5000 cyclist flying @ R400 = R2,000,000.00) - Pick & Pay or the Argus organisers.AngryDead Mr Ackermann you owe us an explanation.
