If you are mugged your phone will be taken. This means that the only way of getting help |(remember that you may have a few stab wounds and maybe a lung puncture) is if you can get to a phone or have a second phone on you. Riding with 2 or 3 of you is also not going to help because anyone accosting you with a gun will take all of your phones, nobody will be a hero and risk a mates life. Which means that you should have a tracker on your person which you can press and hope that somebody comes. Dont link it to anything to do with the police, you need to link it to something like tracker. I am going to investigate this option as it is the only way of effectively getting assistance in a situation like above.

You see gents, what you have to realise is that we in SA are actually Fuc3d. The situation will never improve in our lifetimes if ever. You need to have a contingency plan. If you want to ride come and ride in Durbanville, we do have a few problems, but most of the problem area we are busy fencing. The rest of the area is private land which is monitored by farmers with guns and attitude. Make sure that you plan your future to live somewhere else, just in case. Always having a plan doesnt mean you have to excute it. There is so much sh!t around table mountain, rather ride elsewhere. If there are a few of you and one of you are packing, before you shoot somebody make sure that the shooter is alone with the attacker so once you have a body , none of your friends have to testify as a witness.Make also sure that the attacker has a bloody big weapon and make sure that you take loads of pics, we dont want the police to screw up the crime scene. There are very very few good smart cops left. The smart ones have all left and even if you find a good one he must be thick cause he is still there!

Just allow them to take drugs, it would be far simpler. We give our kids drugs to perform better at school, getting better grades therefore getting better qualifications and bein ale to earn more money than they could have without drugs (Ritlin etc.) How unfair is that to the kids that cant take drugs to enhance their learning. @ THE BREAK Dont be so gullible, I mean any decent manufacturers racing internationly are not using the gardener to design their bikes. So the Swiss are not robbers what the hell is Swiss banking doing by hiding taxes and ill gotten war gains.

Lots of areas that 29er are better, lots of areas 26er are better. The guys that think they are going to start selling a 27,5"just dont understand standards and the marketing it requires. Not to mention proliferation of components, finding spares blah blah blah. No matter if it is strapped to you porsche or your hyundai, if it is a unicycle, a Single Speed; a Rohloff or a 29er as long as you are peddaling something you are already a winner!

I think that pricefixing is great, but it all depends where you fix it. You should be able to buy the same thing all over the world at a similar (note similar) price. That way the competition lies more with the manufacturers and how components compare. There are a lot o bike shops that cannnot keep their head above water because they are crap businesses and crap businessmen. Just becaue somebody knows about bikes or can fix bikes suddenly becomes an entrepreneur or bussinessman. The plumbing industry is also full of plumbrs that think they can run a bussiness when they can not run a greasy stick up a dogs arse

if CRC is banned in SA I will eat a deraileur. That would be anti competitive. Why on earth would any economy want to protect reseller margin. Dutes an bans are to protect local manufactureing and toprevent dumping wich kills jobs.

Quite interesting, I see a number of items on CRC are now only available in the EU. Just like a lot of Specialized items are only available in the States as with Apple products. Makes you think that the LBS and distributors do have some serious clout. I think that we will see more and more of this as everyone tries to protect their market. Price discrepancy is not only found in the cycling industry between countries.

Johan If I supplied you a frame and you painted it I would not support the warranty. There are bikes that some people are not capable of washing, let alone allowing them to attack it with thinners or DK stripper. Do a search on the net and see what paint liquids can do to resins/carbon layups and you will understand why they have that policy. I am aware of one manufacturer that has replaced countless frames even i the paperwork was not 100% in order.

I like the hub becuase it reinforces my prejudice of the ignorance of the human race. I see one complaining about a bike shop charging R250 per hour (How much I wonder does this particulalr person earn an hour) Taking that the bike shop has rent;Rates/water/lights/ paye, insurance/ public liability; breakages.....blah blah) If the retailers in any big shopping center were to have a mark-up of 35% the stores would all be empty. Now I am not for one minute saying that there are not importers;resellrs etc that are not taking the piss completely, but it is the market that accepts these prices and the proof is that only until the advent of CR shows that the market dictates! CR is also not perfect as much of the latest tech is not available because the manufacturers withhold the latest bling from the internet else the retail stores would bin their product from the shelves which would mean that you my dear freinds would not be able to try the stuff; touch; hold; feel; drool over the next whizz bang thing that is going to get your rocks off which means that the manufacturers will not be able to sell anything at all. we are all in this together as a market and thats my 2 cents worth
