  1. Remember warranty only applies to 1st owner, so keep that in mind. Its not a shitty Suntour fork that bud. The air forks are decent not like the drivel they sell for entry level OEM forks.
  2. I got the FS3 in question the XCR is pretty capable I cant say I have any problems with the bike. No experience with the Spez however but I can tell you I dont regret my fluid at all. Edit: I did have some work with the brakes however. Spongy out the box, had to bleed and bleed and bleed and tap the calipers and hoses and bleed. But this is lazy assemblers because the lines are changed when the internal cabling is routed at Norco from what I gather online. I also changed out to 203/180mm because is am a big boy. I can now report back that the Tektro brakes are sufficient with these upgrades and bleeding.
  3. I am so happy to see someone else say what is happening in my mind considering the amount of isht ive been getting from other guys over my bike setup. I fitted an air fork to my XC bike a week after buying it as the coilspring fork was a p.o.s. for my weight. Left the steerer tube as shipped and spaced the stem up. Also changed the internal setup to 130mm so my hardtail sits like a mullet bike. Been working my way back to spacing the stem downward week by week and almost flush to headset now, even contemplating dropping back to 110mm on the fork, seat is going higher and higher as the fitness improves. Might just cut that steerer tube back this weekend.
  4. popped a tyre on a brand new bike last week, damn trail bikes sit just wrong on my bike rack. 50cm between the exhaust and where the tyre sits, i guess turbo cars are hotter and faster on the exhaust.
  5. Whose property are the trail on bro? People are damn sticky up there especially seeing as their property is trodden on all the time when it snows and the whole of slummies flock there and just invade. Sounds like something I would love to come look at until I get a trail bike anyway.
  6. Agreed I also bought a ticket. Hope so because it will be useless to me if they give away a Large only.
  7. You can use a debit or cheque card if you can shop online you can enter.
  8. I too sold my MTB when I got a car at 18 and only started cycling again seriously 4 weeks ago. Wise words above, I started with a couple of days of a 5k in the morning before work. (Short time in steel industry so only working 11h00 to 16h30 this month and this has helped me a lot to push into improving faster) I am now up to doing a 18km ride Tue, Wed, Thu and doing a 25km on Sat and Sun for 2 weeks in a row. its been 3 days in a row now of riding I did not get off and push up the one bastard hill. Also finally clocked 10kg off on last week tuesday. I wish I had picked up a bicycle years ago, so much wasted time. I would advise ANYONE considering cycling and coming across this thread to do it, even if you can only afford a well used R1000 Nishiki or Haro from the 90's just start there.
  9. Ive had a good time here for Anatomic ****s that actually fit my michelin figure. https://weardirect.co.za/cart/
  10. Every single cycling related order I have placed with an online shop including my bike was a stock issue and this is between 3 different online retailers. Not naming and shaming anyone, but in one case I even got hold of the "consultants" in the online chat to confirm stock before pulling trigger and still I got a call back an hour after ordering that my bike was not in stock. I would love to have the selection of bicycle shops within driving distance that you guys have in Joburg and Ctn.
  11. They got it over the fingers over this in the past it is illegal to inflate RRP prices in that manner. I also bought the little Light Combo, hence I bought a used light from the marketplace here last night. The tail will do but the front light will become a little torch for home use only I reckon.
  12. I didnt know this thread existed but I grabbed a park tool chain scrubber from Takeashit yesterday I think it was R350 seemed cheap enough.
  13. +1 on the giant flats, nice and wide even for my "weeshuis brood" feet as they were labelled since std 8, and well priced. Between the giant pedals and my skitches ive not had a foot slip off.
  14. Hi I am 1.97 but not extremely long legs. I have always enjoyed a bit of a more upright riding position hence I spaced the stem instead of cutting back the fork steerer tube when I fitted it. I will work my way down into the correct geometry for hill climb as my fitness increases but I do have a bad back due to carrying a lot of weight on the front of my torso, hence I need to ride more upright for now. I do fit a large to a degree for my leg length but the top tube is too short on the large frame in comparison to the XL so I stick with an XL. Thanks for the encouragement. I suppose 8kg is a hell of a lot it just pales in insignificance to me when comparing it to my goal of getting down to 110-115kg. (45kg to go)
  15. Hey guys I've been lurking and realised its time to do the decent thing and introduce myself, hopefully meeting some more local guys on this forum. I used to ride in the 2000's up until I moved to East London and had to basically sell off everything I owned to get out of a financial predicament. Recently when this pandemic hit the world and I peaked at my worst weight ever (169kg) I decided it is time. So the sad search began during the worst stock shortage the bicycle industry seems to have suffered in recent times. Eventually settled on a Fuji Nevada from CycleLab as it was the only 29er XL I could find in my immediate budget. This was shortly upgraded with a Suntour Raidon fork which is a surprisingly good fork for the cost (Tanks to Janos from Evobikes for sorting me out there). I am one of the few guys who seem to be in a position of financial freedom during this mess as I have had time to save up a nice sum in the 4 weeks since this has happened to start lurking after a older full suspension bike as this has always been the one thing I have wanted and never thought I could afford. (So if any of you have a USED decent softail keep me in mind) Anyhow, it has been 4 weeks of riding, my ass is starting to get into shape, legs are catching up faster though. I managed to drop 8kg's in the last 4 weeks, banting and riding as much as possible. I am from East London as stated above and I think I am training towards the K2K later this year if it actually ends up happening. Hope to make many friends on here in the coming years.
