  1. When you leave alberts farm there is a road which takes you out behind a BP garage, just follow that road all the way up. You cross over 5th avenue in albertville down twist street and then all the way up and over main street. There is a dry cleaners and a cafe, you keep going up the hill its still twist street till you get to the end. Then turn right and left into end street, you will see the entrance there. Just follow the trail up towards the left, you will be above the cemetary and you will come out on beyers. I wouldnt ride this in summer because the grass is very long and it can be a bit of a pain and also gives people opportunities to hide and then attack. Now is the best time to go, If you go early morning you will be fine, sundays are also good anytime of the day. If you are aware of your surroundings you will be fine, theres no planned attacks there as the traffic is rather low.
  2. I've been overseas for a few months and today I saw this.... can anyone shed some light, are these common along the spruit or just opprtunists ?
  3. I don't like the "no not yet" option, a simple "no" would be better. It's like driving a car, be vigilant, dont take risks and if you do then maybe consider carrying a glock with hydroshocks or hollowpoints.
  4. Hi I have a question anybody know a place in JHB that does a good job servicing Cannondale MTB's ? I only need my BB bearings to be changed, otherwise I'm just going to buy the park tool and go to a bearing place like SKF and get replacements but its a bit of a mission so I'd rather just pay form someone else to do it.
  5. Hi I added a gallery of random cyclists in Emmarentia I took a while back, have a look maybe there is someone you know.
  6. @ coolryder where did u get that list of customs tariffs, Ive been searching for one on the SARS website ...
  7. I ride melville koppies all the time, either alone or with 2 mates and I haven't encountered anything, then again we do ride rather fast and dont stop for anything or anyone...
  8. Your best bet would be to weld it, aluminium welding does not require temperatures as high as conventional welding, depending on the purity of the aluminium it can be welded at about 700 degrees celcius, the carbon depending on it's production process can easily withstand anything from 1500 to 3000 degrees celcius. The only problem with repairing an area that is subjected to constant tension forces the one side may be stronger by welding it which places more stress on other areas which may cause another crack elsewhere. 9. I go mountain biking in those areas, usually alone or with one or two mates. I think I need to get myself some pepper spray, carrying any other kind of weapon is just too much of a hassle. I hope you find the bike, if there is anything positive about this event is the fact that more of us will be more aware of possible dangers in the future.
  10. I almost sold my laptop like this, the amount reflected in my account but the guy was pushy and it was after banking hours so I told the guy to wait, he got really aggressive but I thought screw that, the next day the bank said it was a stolen cheque and that it was going to be reversed. Esmeyer: seeing that you sent it to JHB I will have a look around, it truly is a one of kind and really sticks out. I really hope they find the bastard, really sad story but if there is anything positive to be gained from this is that we have all learned something and we all feel ur pain. But what really annoys me is the fact that this happens more and more, the cops should really be doing more like tracing cellphones, they don't even do this for rapes and hijackings, so annoying, the technology is there and they should be using it.
