  1. Het 5 fisio sessies gehad voor die Karoo 2 Coast, maar ek dink daar is meer fout as wat oorspronklik gedink is. Hoop en vertrou dat ek spoedig weer sal kan ry
  4. LEKKER WINDJIE !!
  5. I can confirm that it is "go time" for the Chris Willemse night ride tomorrow night. A few of the regulars will not be there as they are taking part in The Rhino, but for the less fortunate, we will keep the legs turning (probably the same 50 km route). We might stick to one group again, but be sure to be there from about 18h00.
  6. These boys have set a standard that most cycling shops can only dream about! It goes back a while where I wanted to buy a brand that they did not stock normally. The long and short is that they sourced the frame for me from one of their associates in the cycling fraternity and built it up to my exact specifications. It turned out to be even cheaper than the actual bike that was offered to me from the initial shop AND with better spec!! I have since then bought a hell of a lot of stuff on-line and their prices and service is unparalleled. They recently swapped out a seat post I bought from them which did not have the correct angle, for one of their top end seat posts, at no extra cost, just to ensure that I do not lose time from the bike. At about the same time I wanted to buy a new pair of cycling shoes, but could not find it locally. Chris mailed me with pictures of the shoes whilst at the Euro Bike Show and communicated with me from there to ensure I got the shoes I have been looking for. Just for the record, I have just sold a bike of mine privately and they offered to send it up to the client in PE tomorrow, thus saving the client the hassle of having to collect it themselves in Cape Town. I guess we all want the same two things: the best prices and the best service, but sometimes we are willing to accept poor service as long as we get a good deal. Fortunately with CWC you get the best of both worlds!
  7. Well then, you will just have to accept that there is no cure for "that" illness - roadies ignoring traffic rules. You are obviously not riding your mtb properly if you are enjoying the road more Hey, its all good man - face it, not everyone can eat chilies !
  8. Come over to "the light" and go for gold in the mountains. No robots, no stop streets, no vehicles !
  9. I heard a little birdie whisper that the rain will actually clear up shortly ?! But as you said, do not believe everthing you hear :-) Think you might just wanna keep us of our bikes and get in a ride on your own so that you can be one up on us at the next ride !!
  10. Seems like you guys had a great time in Europe ! Never the less, the Wednesday rides went ahead and we had loads of fun (and sweat). Thanks again for the other troopers who looked after our safety whilst you were shaking hands with the rich & famous. I heard a little birdie whisper in my ear that you did a 100 km + ride last Sunday - nogal geskeerde bene and the works !! Does this mean that we need to start looking out for a new driver on Wednesdays ?
  11. Can not comment on the Morewood, but Grant Noble has recently got himself one and he seems to enjoy his Zula a lot. I can however say that I have been on a Anthem for the last few years, BUT during this time I have broken 4 frames. The last two within 6 months of each other. Besides myself I know of at leat 5 of my mates who have also experienced frame problems in exactly the same place - tob tube & down tube weld. The agents have replaced the frame each time, but I have reached a point where I lost complete faith in the product. A pitty as the Anthem X was really a stunning ride and the suspension design & linkage seemed to really work well for a big rider (95 kg) like myself. I never thought I would enjoy any other bike, but I must say that my new Sintesi 609 Race has surely impressed me thus far. Time will tell if it is a overall better frame. For the reason of the unreliable frames (ask any Giant dealer how many Anthem X frames they have received back with problems - you will be shocked, I would surely have gone for the Morewood who is known to be strong and bulletproof for our local conditions.
  12. Here is the link to John's website for all the pics of last nights ride ! http://www.capetownsportphotography.co.za/

  14. About 25 mtb'ers pitched up and boy, what a ride !! Just under 30 km/h average over 50kms is surely not too shabby. Thanks to CWCycles (Hannes) for driving the support vehicle. Now it is me, the couch and an ice cold steri stumpie !!

  16. AFTER KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON THE WEATHER, IT WAS DECIDED THAT WE WILL CONTINUE WITH OUR WEEKLY NIGHT RIDE. THE RAIN SEEM TO HAVE CLEARED UP, BUT EXPECT CHILLY TEMPERATURES AFTER SEVEN. DEPENDING ON THE NUMBERS, WE MIGHT HAVE ONE GROUP, BUT FOR NOW WE ARE INVITING THE THOROUGHBREAD RACERS TO LEAVE AT 18H15 AND THE MORE HUMAN CROWD TO LEAVE AT 18H00. SPREAD THE WORD AMONGST YOUR FRIENDS AND COME GET IN SOME MUCH NEEDED MIDWEEK KMS. CHEERS
  17. AT THE SHOP NOW - NIGHT RIDE IS ON FOR TONIGHT. DEPENDING ON THE NUMBERS WE MIGHT JUST HAVE ONE GROUP, BUT FOR NOW WE ARE PUTTING OUT THE WORD THAT THE RACING SNAKES CAN PITCH AT 18H15 AND THE ASPIRING GROUP WILL LEAVE AT 18H00. SEEMS AS IF THE RAIN IS SOMETHING OF THE PAST, BUT BRING SOMETHING WARM.
  18. Spoke to Evert at CWC earlier and he will let me know by about 4 pm if we are going ahead. I shall then put out the notice on the Hub on his behalf. See weather outlook from Accuweather: http://www.accuweather.com/en-us/za/western-cape/bellville/hourly.aspx No rain, but some wind to contend with !
  19. I know most of the guys will not believe me, but the rain will part from 5pm AND the wind will die down. Hope that the ride goes ahead, but somehow I think the boys will call it off. :-(
  20. Thanks Chris ! You are The Man ! Once again, we were spoilt with stunning weather and the privilege of knowing we have your support vehicles with us all the way. It seems as if everybody enjoyed the ride and it is quite obvious the overall fitness levels of the regulars are getting better every week. Thanks for your support and commitment to our safety.
  21. Can't wait - seems like the weather is playing along. Was planning on joining the slower group to get some life back into my legs, but Jnr does not want to allow me. Guess it is pasta tonight so I can mix it with the "players" tomorrow night. Thanks for the new bike Chris - lets race !!
  22. BUT we surely made up for it tonight in the hills of Meerendal !!
  23. surprise gift.......Chris I was also there last night :-)
  24. In a perfect world it would be fantastic to have 3 or 4 groups, but for now, I believe two groups should be the way forward. Perhaps this is not the right time to comment on safety, or perhaps it is the best time.....???? But, I am stunned to see so many of the riders still not respecting the traffic rules and fuelling the fire with poor road use during our rides. Last Wednesday whilst we were giving it horns at an average of 44 km/h towards the silos, I politely asked two gents in front of me to stay on the left of the yellow lane and was given a very nice "f-off" as a reply ! As a result of guys bunching together, sometimes three and four next to each other, a few vehicles were forced to overtake us in the opposite lane. We must remember that safety should be first on our agenda and should all of us do our bit to look out for all the cyclists in the group. At those speeds, especially at night, a cyclist being clipped by a vehicle would most certainly bring down half of the bunch. Chris, if you can PLEASE re-iterate before the start of the next ride, how important it is for the guys to keep to the left and to stop at the traffic lights. We do not want to give the motorists any more reason to "hate" us by showing a disregard for traffic rules, signs, etc. Looking forward to the next ride or should I say time-trial :-) ps: Kudos again to Chris for money / petrol, time, etc. spent each Wednesday night !!
  25. I think we can count out riding on Monday nights and Friday nights for obvious reasons. With a current ride already in place on Wednesday nights (which seem to work great for most) and proper mtb-ing at Meerendal on Thursday nights, it leaves us with only Tuesday nights. In saying that, it would be unfare to expect Chris to sacrifice two evenings in the week - the man is married afterall :-) Perhaps we should just be patient and wait for summer to arrive when the late sunset would give us an opportunity to perhaps do a formal ride at Magic Forest on a weekly basis without needing the assistance of a back up vehicle - just a thought.
