  1. Friendly people, amazing scenery and such a perfect day. The one rocky downhill section had me warming up my brake rotors to a new pb All in all I have to say I loved the route and will definitely be back next year!
  2. Thanks Rouxenator. Sounds manageable, will it give it a go and let you know how it went
  3. How technical("hectic") is the 60km? I usually do the medium/intermediary mtb routes, but thought this time I'd do the longer one for once. Just worried this might not be the right race to do so? EDIT: Fitness wise I should be fine.
  4. Some interesting observations from the cover of that expo magazine...
  5. Thanks, same to you. By special I take it you are referring to those two speedbumps at the end
  6. Thank you for the quick reply I have just found a thread that addresses this : https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/164131-ppa-seeding-effect-on-ctct/?hl=seeding Need to improve my forum search skills
  7. Sorry if my question is a bit ignorant : I have an "okish" start group/time for the cycle tour - if I decide to start the 99er in the back and ride at a slower pace with friends, will it negatively affect my current cycle tour seeding that I have?
  8. Great advice thanks. Both those points you guys made is exactly where my head is at. Either ride it as is for now and learn the ropes while upgrading to a better bike at a later stage, or upgrade the parts now and transfer it later when building up a better bike. Will give it some thought. Cheers and thanks again for the help everyone!
  9. Are these for front and back? And are they worth it? http://www.evobikes.co.za/components/brakes/complete-disc-brakesets/shimano-deore-br-m615-disc-brakeset.html
  10. Thanks for all the replies guys Hi 2Nutz, I've included links to what my equipment looks like below. Yip, something I need to consider Will be the route I will have to go if this is going to work out to be more money than it's worth. Kinda hoped I could keep it max 2k. My front hub is this one: http://www.ebay.com/...vectorid=229466 and my shock is this one and has those 2 black protrusions as well: http://thumbs1.ebays...WRVup_Ybjuw.jpg Yeah, from what I somewhat gather from all the posts is that the replacement of my hubs/wheelset is almost a given....
  11. Hi guys. A friend recently convinced me to join him in the MTB scene, so saying I'm new to all this is an understatement. Long story short, I bought this merida tfs 500 and I want to upgrade the V brakes to disc brakes. I have no idea what my options are here. Obviously I would like to spend as little as possible, without sacrificing safety or buying something that breaks within a couple of uses. I'm also scared that if I approach a bike shop they would just try and take advantage of my ignorance. I have included some pictures, so if any of you seasoned MTB pros out there can point me in the right direction that would be great. Cheers
  12. +1 also there was a guy sitting next to her
  13. Found it on the Racetec site. Thanks!
  14. Hi Just renewed my PPA Membership. Where can I see online if my chip is still linked? Thanks
  15. Hi Anyone have experience or feedback on the Cygolite Expilion 250? Thanks
