  1. Hey guys I'm looking at starting a riding club (group) in Magaliesburg. With an average length of about 40km for now. And increasing over time. We would meet early on a Saturday morning (at various locations depending on the route for the day) *Please note everyone would be required to supply their own puncture kit, and water. * If anyone here is interested or has friends or Acquaintances. That live on the magaliesburg area and might be interested in joining a group. Please WhatsApp me on 073 445 two five nine eight. Regards Matthew du Preez
  2. Thanks for the advice guys. I really would do it. But unfortunately my parents have just said no, I can do it next year. But not this year. Anyways I'll just do the 45km Magalies Adventure in 2 weeks time πŸ‘Œ Regards Matthew
  3. Hey guys I've been riding MTB for the past 5-6 years and have only recently been riding longer distances 40-55km. But now 17 year old me wants to ride the 94.7 🀣. My question is if I can reasonably comfortably ride a 50km MTB race, with a 800m of climbing, and some really thought patches aswell as more than half the ride was in soft sand. Now based on that would you say that I would be able to ride the 94.7 on a road bike... I don't mind a hard ride .... I am actually 17 πŸ˜‚
  4. Meh... Tell that to the race organizers.... πŸ˜‚. They should rather give us timing wrist bands πŸ˜‚
  5. Honestly I just think the MTB race was a lesser priority than the road race.
  6. Ya, I spoke to a few guys who also did the road race, the max was 2000 people, compared to the 500 for MTB. And apparently there were about 1400 people at the road race... About 7 times more than the MTB
  7. Ya, I agree. It just seemed like it was under funded. Lack of quite a few things . And yea I agree no one needs another water point 2km later. But imo it was certainly very under funded. And there were also only about 200 people there. Compared to the max they wanted of 500.
  8. Well, it was a lekker ride. I did the 20k , and I'm glad I did.. certainly wouldn't have managed the 45k... But I did come first I'm my category Can't say I'm impressed with the price giving method, they skipped the entire Junior category. Am not impressed But it was a nice ride, and the weather was perfect.
  9. Yay, pump arrived last night. PubMed my shocks up to 9 bar. To get the appropriate sag. They feel a whole lot better now. Now just waiting on the sludge. That'll arrive tomorrow, then I can assemble my bike, and get everything ready
  10. WHEN YOU PUT IT THAT WAY IT SOUNDS FINE.... but the fact of the matter is for the first 20-30k's its almost dead flat
  11. i actually have done a ride similar to this... September i believe... one here in magaliesburg. i signed up for the 30k... but some banana had pointed the sign in the wrong direction. literally everyone except the guy that came first, got lost. incl me. the majority of the guys gave up after 7 k's and headed back... the rest took a short cut and came out with a 30k ride... i did the proper course, so came out with a 45k ride.. with 958m of elevation. i was the only one besides the guy that came first, to actually finish the race.. and i came 4th... literally right behind the 2 other guys (2nd and 3rd) who took the short cut.
  12. hahaha lol... views that are to die for.. lol now youre making me worried.
  13. The last time I rode was before I had covid... Actually the very last time was August πŸ˜‚
  14. cool. my mom, and brother will be doing the 20k to. I went gung ho and booked myself in for the 45k... haven't been on my bike since before Christmas. so itll be very interesting
  15. Just curious as to who is doing the BergenDale MTB race this coming weekend.
  16. Looking for any bike computers. Older ones are fine. Just as long as they work πŸ˜‚. We had a few but, they're almost 20 years old and have now stopped working.
  17. No chance anyone is confiscating my Mamba πŸ˜‚ Or let me rather say my Merida 120 pro 😁😁😁
  18. Thanks a ton for your guys help. Will be getting the shock pump today. So will hopefully be going to get at least 1 or 2 decent rides in before Sunday πŸ˜‚
  19. Ya there used to be. Unfortunately that one closed down and moved into Rustenburg I believe. But they're certainly no longer there.
  20. Thanks, @Steady Spinhas kindly given me his old one. Will be getting it tomorrow. πŸ˜€. That way I can get a few training rides in before the raceπŸ˜€πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  21. Thanks.. my only problem.. can't get to a bike store any time this week πŸ™ˆ. I'm out in Magaliesburg... So no nearby stores. The pressure should hold. I know I was meddling around with the pressure of the shock a bit.. and unfortunately released a little too much air. So it was very flat.. but now it is even more flat. Probably not enough pressure to hold the pressure.
  22. I'll be riding this one on Sunday... Wouldn't mind if someone could offer some advice for this.. in the linked thread Regards Matthew
