Granted. I have to admit it is a bit of a gemors out here. Was quite surprised this morning that no roads had been closed for the 7h00 start. Not too sure what the problem is but traffic control is OUT of control. I'm not even aware of an notifications to residents of the diferent events and road closure times; so what do you expect? It's a pity though, 'cause alot of okes have made a big effort to get here, just to be let down by poor organisation.

Went past this cyclist on the 2nd lap lying on the side of the road. Seemed to be in a lot of pain, but no external injuries immediately noticeable. Happened on LaRoche Drive just before the Strandfontein intersection robots towards the sea. Not too sure what happened, but a silver half ton bakkie was involved. I missed the accident so do not want to speculate about the details surrounding the accident though.

As Mavric Man says,nothing wrong with that. I cannot say what your finances are, but it might just be the one time in your life that; if you had an extra 10K+, you'd be able to buy a bike that you might never ever be able to afford. It's just a thought! Nice dale though. I haven't been in this position so I'm not sure what I would do myself.

Black, oily chainring marks on your calves and legs are not cool. It rather shows that you cannot control your bike even when standing still. A dirty bike is a definite no-no. A day or two is OK 'cause we are all busy, but weeks with the same mud marks on the bike is out. Remove the neon 2009 Argus, 94.7 "please take a photo of me" sticker from your helmet. Nobody's gonna take a photo of you now. Because they might of missed you then, doesn't mean that they're gonna make up for it now!

Thanks to all for the comments. Looks like I'll be sticking with the Gatorskins. Can use the money I'll be saving on a donation to the local municipality to fix the pothole ridden roads we have to use here in Slaapstad.

I have been riding Conti Gatorskins for a while now and have been very happy with them. I need to get new tyres and am wanting to try some new tyres; that's if it's worth the effort. I use them for training as well as racing and don't intend having a racing set of wheels set aside just for race days; so these wil have to be good enough to train on as well as to race with. Has anyone had experiences with my shortlisted tyres? viz: Conti GP 4000s Michellin Pro Race 3 Vitoria Open Corsa CX Evo The alternatives are all on special at Crown Cycles for R399 each, so price between them is not going to be the decider although the Gatorskins come in at R100 cheaper. What are your thoughts?
