  1. Come and warm the legs up for Sunday. Racing starts at 13H00 - Prize money for all batches. If you have not been on the track before and would like to try it out come down at 11H00. We will have a bikes available in all sizes.
  2. If you are looking at the repair option, Graham in Durban is a master with carbon. He has done some work for me and I have seen some of the frames he has repaired. PM me for his details.
  3. All the Thule locks have the key number stamped on them, so it is only a matter of matching the key to the lock. I bought spare keys for my roof racks from the agents. Makes you wonder if this was a random theft or a well plan and prepared for theft.
  4. My sons Silverback Space frame had a very similar crack at the seat tube / top tube intersection ( along the top). Silverback had no problem replacing the frame and to date the replacement frame in fine after nearly 1 year. His frame crack on the 1st ride.
  5. Last year i moved my household and cars from Outsurance to TIB, in the process i also included the 9 bikes and many sets of race wheels etc that my kids and i have collected (not previously insured) and am now paying less than before. I also increased the value of my household cover as i was previously under insured. Recently i had to put in a claim for my sons MTB (he broke the frame). The claim was approved with in 2 hrs and the money was in my bank by the end of business the following day. The hardest part of the process was the decission of what to replace it with, 26er, 29er. The guys at TIB apart from being cyclists themselves , so they understand their cycling customers, are really easy to deal with even with difficult clients like us who are constantly changing our policy.
  6. My son was riding in the same bunch, just to his left. It appears he touched wheels with the rider in front of him and this caused him to swerve to his right. Unfortunately the taxi was was right there and had no way to avoid the cyclist. No blame can really be placed on anyone, just an unfortunate accident that shows the danger of racing on open roads.
  7. I agree that any lock can be cut very easily by a prepared thief but it does slow them down and prevents the chancer removing the bike. I would rather not leave my bikes unattended.
  8. This is how i lock my bikes to my bakkie. The eye bolt is through the deck and the nuts have been welded to prevent them been undone. The cable is 12mm Ravx.
  9. Tania Raats - Cyclelab Hillcrest does a good set up.
  10. Same as for clothes in the clod water with OMO and soak. In the machine with out anything else or the straps tend to trap the clothes and cause damage or place it in a pillow case which works quite well. I used to do this quite often when i was using a camelbak as there is nothing worse than a smell following you on the trails. Just remember to remove your cell phone from the pocket before submerging as the cell phone does't do well with the above.
  11. Carefull you never know if she is lurking on the Hub to keep a eye on you.
  12. I use a good quality water proof grease from Midas for all my bearings and copper grease on all threads. Forks are easy to service yourself, just make sure that you use the correct oil and grease. I get my oil from the local Yamaha dealer. The grease for the forks is rather expensive but you use very little so it last for long time. The other bits and pieces are available from any bicycle shop.
  13. In a bucket with cold water and Omo over night then in the machine and on the line. This way i find my kit stays clean and fresh.
  14. Cyclesphere in Morningside Durban, they are No.1 in my opinion and according to the Bicycling Magazine poll.
