  1. So an update - If I fully compress the shock down i have about 10mm from the crown to the trye and about 11mm from the arch sides to the tyre. the only narrow portion is the lower leg(pointy bit) to the tyre which is roughly 6/7mm gap from the side to the tyre
  2. Hi all, I need some advice and guidance here. I installed a new tyre on my fox SC32 shock - One of the sales guys at cyclelab said that I could safely move up from the max 2,3 (supported by fox for this shock) to a 2,35. After installing the clearance on the sides are about 6mm per side and about 10mm on the top. pics attached for reference. Let me know if this is safe to ride or if I should look at going one size smaller. thanks in advance
  3. Thanks for the info . I did get a pair of lake custom soles but have not tried them on yet. Is the fit is still good or the same after a year - do you have the leather version ? did ittake a little shape after a few rides ie; more comfortable ?
  4. So it sounds like weight inst the most important factor here and in my case its probably not going to matter much or at all. My focus should be body weight and straight training over the weight of bike parts I did pull the trigger and bought the 238 from KIM, great service and very patient with me. Will support her again. I definitely like my238 for sure and I dont think I will trade to other brands. however after testing the 238 microfiber version It felt a lot lighter but the fit was not as great as the leather version, which is slightly heavier.
  5. Reviving an old thread How are you guys enjoying your LAKE shoes since purchase - is the weight OK and comfort ok on these shoes? I would like to do race to the sea next year and generally like long rides. My current Ryder shoes come in at 950g for the pair including cleats and the MX238 comes in at 1005g including cleats. - I dont think 60g will make much a dfference in energy consumption- happy to hear your thoughts on it. but thought they would be lighter considering they were 4x the price of the Ryders. the quality of lake and the fit is just amazing though Ryder Bora (46) 950g inc cleats Lake MX238 (45) 1005 inc cleats
  6. I have a Titan Rogue(M) - was not planning on selling, however I am about to get a gravel bike this week and would have no use for the titan- and it would be a good beginner bike. It has only even being on my trainer and is in excellent condition. DM me if you keen
  7. Service has dropped dramatically. My personal experience this year was terrible and im afraid of the support post purchase. No focus on the customer and questionable after support.
  8. Im using the CIOVITA Supremo and the Assos C9 - both are great bibs. however I did R2TS this year and took me close to 9hours. the ciovita bib held up really well and they are reasonably priced at about 3k +-
  9. Thanks Guys I do have a nutrition plan - however I was keen to hear others view and tweak my plan where it makes sense. What im really keen to know is what tyre pressure you are running - I am told that the higher pressure (2.7bar +) will result in quicker times and low watt outputs. My goal is to just complete the event - but Id like to ensure I optimize my energy output as much as possible
  10. Any tips for first timers doing the race ? Nutrition ? Tyre choice and tyre pressure (MTB bike) ? how to approach the race and resting tips ? And Good luck to everyone doing the event.
  11. hi Niel SO after a year of using the wrap on my bike , I could not be more happier, It has definitely saved me from a few falls and scratches. as a note regarding the installation - my take would be to spend a much time as you can on it, dont rush it. the effort taken to do it properly really pays off with a clean and neat look
  12. My wifes Garmin vivoactive4 died yesterday after a swim in the pool, the watch is 4years old. What is the chance that Garmin( as part of their repair policy) will offer a discount on the Vivoactive 5 for purchase or would they offer a discount on the same model ie VA4 ? Im looking for information from those who have been through this process with Garmin - I am wondering if its just worth buying her a new watch and skipping the hassle via garmin support.
  13. Did a ride around springbok Northern cape - Weather was amazing and routes are fantastic

    Scratched Carbon

Going to look for a wrap or get VPS on it
  18. Morning everyone I guess this was bound to happen at some point- but my bike slipped and fell and the handlebars scratched the toptube. Looks like its gone through the clearcoat and paint but not through the carbon. I dont see any visible fibers but Looks like a tiny nick on the carbon ( almost like pressed rather than scratched ) Looking for some advise if this needs to be repaired or can I put some clear coat and just monitor it. thanks all

Hi Guys Anyone have any experience using the Practice- Linden ( Tim or Alasdair) for a MTB bike fit ?
  21. Boost with SLX hubs , thruAxel . I placed an ad but price is neg https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/mountain-bike-wheels/610286/merida-expert-cc-rims-and-rotors
  22. Hi Guys I couldn't find a thread as such after searching , so I decided to create new one on fair price value of items we looking to sell. I have a set of Merida expert CC rims with SLX hubs and rotors( 180 and 160mm) - brand new not 1km on it Not sure what is a fair market price ? Mods - if this thread is not allowed - please delete it
  23. Hey guys so quick update - Cycle lab has put me into a medium and it feels better ( more nimble )- now I just need to get a proper bike fit done. What are your guys thoughts on 100mm suspension in terms of riding our general trails( hennops, vangaalens) and perhaps rides like Sani2C or Karoo2coast etc.
  24. Thanks Guys. They used a RAD tool and I think that pushed out the LRG recommendation. Merida uses a smart-fit widget and using my inseam and arm length etc - it suggests a MED.
  25. So Cyclelab put me into a large as I said im looking to be more comfortable on the bike. However I rode it and it feels ok.but I need to get a bike fit done though. but was just overthinking and wondering if a large will be ok based on my height. Im 172-173 and Merida recommends a Medium - Should I try to get it swapped for a medium or stick with the Large - thanks for the advice in advance guys
