  1. Hey all! Anyone know if there are group rides that happen out of karkloof? I am looking for a group that rides regularly out of there that i can tag along with. Preferably trail riders that dont mind a few tech sections!
  2. I have tried with greg minaar cycles here in PMB, but no luck yet. They are waiting for Spesh SA to get back to them. I will cast my net further afield!
  3. Nah, not rusted at all. For some reason all the grease on my bike is a metallic orange after my last service.
  4. Dude, that would be amazing. Let me find out if they are the same.
  5. Howdy all. I was cleaning my bike and i noticed that one of the bolts that attaches my linkage to the frame is missing. I still have 1, and it seems like its the same one for the left and right. I have asked at a specialized store and they checked up the serial number and then told me that i would not have much luck. So, can anyone reccomend a replacement?
  6. I have not ridden with the club there per se, spent loads of time riding the trails out there tho. Ome really nice stuff on the 23km route! I have also found some gems at cascades which has been really cool to ride.
  7. Thanks! I am really keen to try the bachelor and just the general area around renes rumble as well. What is the area close to the fire tower like at present? (Gums lower, kathryns etc.)
  8. I am planning on riding at karkloof sometime this month and am looking for reccomendations for fast fun flow trails with jumps that are currently running clear. Trailforks is great. But karkloof is monstrously complicated so i have no idea whats nice to ride at present. I have hit isikhova which was loads of fun and i would love more like that! Any reccomendations on routes and how to link them up would be hugely helpful.
  9. Thanks for the input all! Do you know how to get onto the watsapp group? I checked out trailforks and it seems that everything at Karkloof is currently closed?
  10. Howzit All. I recently moved to Hilton from Jhb and I am surrounded by new trails to ride! Its a brilliant problem to have..... I have ridden in mountain homes, grace college trails, cascades and a little bit of the howick mtb trails from 11 karkloof. The problem I have is that there is just so much trail around, but a lot of it is not in great nick and I don't know what links together in a logical way. So I am looking for recommendations! I like riding fast flowy single track with medium sized jumps. I have found such at Cascades but would love to expand my area a bit. I would love to know which sections are to be recommended? Also, does anyone know of any group rides with a similar focus to mine that I could tag along with?
  11. I think one of the problems about getting more people into enduro events is the contrived gap between "gravity" and Marathon riders (particularly on internet forums where gravity riders are considered to be ultra-elite and marathon riders are considered to be slightly better than roadies) if i had regular encounters with a bunch of guys that that outdid me completely in skills and dissed my incredibly hard won gazillion miles of riding fitness, lifestyle and expensive 1 gram bicycles I wouldn't support their events either. I know a lot guys are completely intimidated by the idea of rocking up at events on their 29ers with cleats, doesnt matter if there are B-lines etc cos they dont want to be ridiculed by guys cos they dont have the right gear/look/ethos. maybe the secret is to make a trail event which combines aspects of technical trail riding, thats not too intimidating but still hard on fitness and skills that will allow people to feel like they have accomplished something and give them the confidence to try enduro and DH?
  12. Went for a ride at big red barn this morning. had tons of fun on the trails! well done builders! Only gripe, really, really confusing signage. there are places where 5 trails converge and it results in a really mess of blue squares, ones, two and arrows. not at all helped by signs that have fallen over. So I got lost.... again.... and felt that I had missed a lot of awesome bermy, jumpy goodness. As this has happened to me a lot, I would like to prevent it from happening again. does anyone have any form of route file (gpx, shp, whatever) for the blue route at big red?
