  1. I did not mean everyone in C. But the results as they stand aren't correct.
  2. Thanks for the link. According to these results the guy who won beat Nico Pfitzenmaier our of C-Batch by nearly 20 minutes! I think someone needs to tell Nico as he is under the impression he won but he only came third ;-)
  3. I hope those are provisional results which will be corrected... There are a bunch of guys high up in the standings out of B and C in the 70km. I started in A and I saw very few people I did not start with (one I think on the tar climb after Hooggekraal which was around 58km) came past me after the scramble in the first 10km.
  4. And I would also advise to take a hydration pack as there are many long single track sections of 30-40min+ where it is nearly impossible to get a bottle out.
  5. Tallboy, 100mm travel, dropper post a must! Also make sure you've ridden the dropper post for a few months to get used to it. Important to have the control where you can reach it without moving your whole hand. I also used a clamp to limit the dropper post travel to about 40mm as that is all I felt I need and I can still pedal at that level. 100mm is enough, although I think most fun will be on something like a 5010 with a little more travel. Too much travel will hurt you on the steep climbs, and there are many... Most of the top 50 riders were on 29" 100mm full suspension bikes.
  6. It was awesome! The trails are insane and it doesn't stop. Very technical and very physical as you ride single track 80%+ of the time. Impossible to describe the scale and magnitude of trails, the clips on YouTube are also misleading (makes it look like a party!) Steep climbs made me wish I took a 28 XX1 chainring after day 4. The skills on the trails of some of the locals blew my mind. In terms of organization they can learn a thing or two from the Epic though!
  7. So who's all doing BC Bike Race this year in Canada? My regular riding partner unfortunately had to pull out so I'm going solo. Would like get an idea of how many other guys are going...
  8. Ikon rear and Racing Ralph front. Light, rolls well, grippy and reliable. I use it for XC, marathons and training. The Racing Ralph wears too fast on the rear but lasts well on the front. I did ±4000km on an Ikon on the rear and was still fine.
  9. To a quite few of the contributors to this thread: "i" before "e" except after "c". Or use spellcheck...
  10. 3. I agree on your positive points though.
  11. 1. I received no mail 2. 5 days?????????
  12. I think it is ridiculous that there are no results published 5 days after a provincial championship was held. I phoned WP cycling as to date there has been zero communication on the delay of the results to the participants via email or SMS or on the WP cycling website. They say that the organisers have not released the results yet - something to do with a new timing system. Very unprofessional in my opinion...
  13. I'm in Cape Town and have struggled to find someone (I'm sure there is someone somewhere but unfortunately our paths did not cross) to build a set of wheels properly. So on the bike I bought earlier this year I had Ruan at Spokeworks in Pretoria (know him from my days in Joburg) build me a set of 29'er ZTR's with Tune hubs. 7 months and 5000km (including many races and lots of riding at Delvera, Tokai, Jonkers, Grabouw, Welvanpas, Contermans, Hillcrest etc.) later and they're as stiff as the day I bought them! None of that "you have to wait for the spokes to settle" nonsense and not once having to take the wheels for truing. I see many guys (including myself a few times) having problems as result of poor wheel building and once a set of wheels begin to give problems they will continue to do so until you have them properly and completely rebuilt. So if you're in the market for a new set of wheels, look up Spokeworks! http://www.spokeworks.co.za
