  1. Hi - is this still available?
  2. Hi Marc, Since I started this discussion, I thought I would try and have the last say (although) I reckon there will be many more posts after mine. My intention was never to start a war of words and to run anyone down. Based on what I have seen, there has been a couple of emotional responses, but thankfully it's remained mostly calm and composed. The posts from both Mike and yourself are also devoid of any extreme emotional outbursts or any sort of derogatory remarks to one another and I must applaud you for that. As a shopper who has visited both stores I can only say that the experience I had at SBR was vastly different to the one I had at Troi...and that is why I wanted to share the experience with others. I will PM you with my gripes about Troisports and perhaps you can view this as constructive feedback. I believe both stores serve a purpose and both stores will do well. Good luck to both of you.
  3. Hey this post just cracked me advanced member status on the hub! Cool! If only triathlon's were that easy...
  4. Thanks!! Sign me up for a hot bath too and add a massage please!! Good luck everyone, see you there tomorrow.
  5. Since the rules were specifically posted in the Olympic distance event's section, I assumed that they were applying these rules to the Olympic distance...which did confuse me, as I assumed it was wetsuit legal. Anyway, now that we've all got that sorted we can go back to preparing for tomorrow...where did I pack my scuba gear???
  6. I have the 310 xt and if you're into triathlons then the 310xt is better than the 305 purely because you can actually swim with it. Check out DC Rainmaker's detailed review of the 310xt - it helped me decide between the Garmin and a Polar and I am extremely happy with my purchase http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2009/09/garmin-forerunner-310xt-in-depth-review.html
  7. Clearly the guys from BSG and Spectrum have not been chatting to each other, because this is taken directly from the race rules section of the event: Swim It is compulsory for all athletes to wear a brightly coloured swimming cap.Wetsuits will only be permitted if the water temperature is below 22 degrees. The water temperature will be confirmed on the day. http://www.bsgmultisport.co.za/events/bsg-olympic-distance-triathlon/race-rules I am happy to be proven wrong as it would suck if we had to race without wetsuits. As far as the assumption regarding the duathlon is concerned...just an assumption from my side, based on the massive amounts of rain in the last few days and the fact that the river is apparently flowing at 40 cumecs (info provided by an avid flyfishing friend) which makes it virtually impossible to stand in, so the swim might be a little tough. However, don't take my word for it, I just assumed that if there was any risk at all, they would revert to a duathlon...which would not be cool!!
  8. I was on the BSG website earlier this week and it says that the water temp has to be below 22C before it becomes wetsuit legal... As for the weather - I think it will be cold and wet, no need to strip off the wetsuit (if we get to use them) for the bike and run Chances are they might even turn it into a dualthlon since the Vaal is pumping at the moment and therefore could be a safety risk
  9. I think it is safe to say that everyone will have a different opinion regarding SBR's location. However Weight Weenie and Puncture Girl have hit the nail on the head as far as I am concerned. I've been into Troisports often and on every occassion the experience has been pretty much the same - ignored when I walk in, treated like an idiot when I ask questions about stuff. Mike's approach was very different and I appreciate that and that's why he will get my support as a customer. As for Troisports - I'm not going to bash them - they're the pioneers and they do put a lot back into the sport. Having said that, from a retail experience, I prefer SBR. Finish and klaar...
  10. Count me in too - I currently only use WHASP products and will be doing plenty of long rides every Sunday between now and April.
