  1. Granted. Pickles, you willing to change the title of the thread to keep this on track? Sure! Whatever floats Holy's boat! Not for a split second, after seeing what my kid looked and felt like, nor whilst posting this thread, did I stop to ponder my use of punctuation marks etc etc. BELIEVE ME HOLY, if you knew me you would know that if I printed (for public consumption) everything that I think, I would be in jail (or have a knife in my neck) by now. Stick to the bloody point okay!
  2. why not say it? it's implicit. call a spade a spade. pickles, i feel for your son, but have to take issue with your way of addressing it here. call it latent, call it inherent; you know i'm not wrong. Do tell Holy, exactly WTF this would achieve? You are flogging a dead horse! Who TF made you keeper of The Queen's English anyway? This is not about ADJECTIVE CHOICE or punctuation marks! This is about *** riding. OK!
  3. That will not help. At the Paarl league event 3 of the Acsis guys held on to their team verchile for the first 15 km. When we reported them at the end, their manager said, they started late and had to get to the bunch somehow.... I hear your pain Pickels, the one rider EL19 tried to switch me as well, but he failed, and when the one guy in the bunch tried to talk to him his comment was; " Jou ma se .....". Did you report them to the race organisers or to the team management? If race organisation does not take action, then escalate to CSA / province. If the trickle of complaints turn into a stream, then they will HAVE to act! But referring to the group as 'development riders' does not help to expose them either. Name & shame. Bring the sponsor into the naming part of it... Contact the sponsor directly! Take action, and only then action will be taken! I don't know about Beth, but in our incident, it was too quick to take note of the riders league number, but he was an ACSIS cyclist. I believe our club will take it up with Acsis and WP Cycling. I've had enough PM's to assure me that the dangerous riding these guys display is no figment of my imagination! Whether anything comes of it remains to be seen, but at least their managers or sponsors or whoever is "in charge", will be made (officially) aware of what is taking place.
  4. I'm told that some new shifters are needed. Otherwise Mat took the knock. And the helmet split up the back! Thank God it wasn't his head! I think some insurance is going to be needed when the new bike comes into play!
  5. Paraffin Gauze, Bactroban and serious dressings! Thanks guys. We appreciate your input.
  6. [ and one especially for Pickles Thanks Ronelle. He sure doesn't look that happy now. Man-down. Go see the pics on my Rant n Rave thread.
  7. No' date=' not a euphamism! I said developement rider, and that's what I meant.[/quote'] then explain the quotation marks in the subject line? 'developement' riders being youngsters that are relatively new to the sport. Assisted/sponsored up-and-coming cyclists. In a state of sporting advancement! They are identifiable as developement cyclists by their kit. Don't split hairs Holy. Stick to the point. These guys cause weekly accidents. Bad ones. More so than usual. They do not take any cognizance of their fellow riders, nor their own, safety. I believe that if a sponsor is going to put their company's name and logo all over a cyclist, they should also put some effort into ensuring said cyclist is not a menace in a race. Be it with training or in any other relevant manner.Pickles2009-02-21 10:50:49
  8. No, not a euphamism! I said developement rider, and that's what I meant.
  9. He's saying that development cyclists are unethical' date=' irresponsible and have poor bike-handling skills . [/quote'] I am cheesed off and a bit too closely involved in this particular incidence to be completely objective. I did generalise somewhat, but, trust me , we Kaapies know EXACTLY what this bunch of youngsters get up to every weekend! They don't do a stitch of work, hide away in the middle of the bunch yacking at vast decibles to one-another, not concentrating and pulling stupid stunts like switching with half a bike's length to go. And you are safer crossing the white line into oncoming traffic than sitting behind one of these guys when he reaches for a bottle!
  10. It was an ACSIS rider. A Junior (they start with the Elites). The U16's start by themselves. They have the same problems there! Pickles2009-02-21 09:56:50
  11. I am SERIOUSLY p***ed off! And it's high-time someone in a position of authority had a FIRM talk to our so-called 'developement riders' who are currently competing in the Elite and Under 16 League Categories. Their bike skills are pathetic, and their race ethics non-existent. I cannot begin to remember how many unnecessary accidents have occured because of these youngsters irresponsible behaviour. This morning one of these boys switched in front of my son. In fact, he moved into my son's line with half a bike's length still to pass! Do these people really believe that if they can't see you, you are not there! Ostrich head-in-the-sand kinda thing? Is there a depth perception issue I am not aware of? God help us when they get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle! I am looking keenly forward to the day when one of the Elite men, equally pi##ed with this nonsense, is going to face-plant one of these bloody idiots. This is the result of today's shenanigans!
  12. 'How to win friends and influence people.." I'm willing to bet 100 ront that SLACKERBITCH is male....hiding behind a female alter-ego. It won't be here for long because the mediators 'remove' deliberate s@#t-stirrers from the forum. See you around slacker
  13. BRIDGE CYCLES ALWAYS GIVES ME DISCOUNT. ON EVERYTHING I BUY THAT ISN'T ALREADY ON SALE. MAYBE IT WASN'T YOUR LUCKY DAY...OR MAYBE YOU AREN'T PRETTY ENOUGH?
  14. I too am guilty of "doing things" that I shouldn't whilst driving. Many many times this has caused my vehicle to drift on the road. I make a public promise here today! I will never type an sms (my most frequent misdemeanour) while I am driving again. I would DIE if my child got killed on the road. And I will never, purposefully, endanger anyones else's child's, husband's, wife's life in this way again . Loads of you out there know who I am. Keep an eye on me!
  15. I feel positively ILL. Myself and 2 friends have just come off that exact route. My 16 year old son spends a lot of time out on that road. I want to sob! My heart is SO sore for that man, his wife and little boys. If R10 from every entry at every funride/race was donated SPEFICALLY to the city for signage and safety awareness, it would be money well spent. I am more than willing to pay an extra R10 a ride if I am convinced the money will be used for safety promotional purposes.
  16. The accident happened somewhere in or near Pretoria. Estelle and her hubby, Gerard, moved there sometime last year from Cape Town. I don't have anymore news yet. Will post if I hear anything.
  17. Estelle de Bruyn, one of the nicest ladies in cycling (rode for Millenium Flooring last year in Cape Town), was involved in a horror accident in Pretoria yesterday. Apparently she and a friend were cycling inside the yellow line when a truck passed and she got "sucked" under the wheels. She is in intensive care with horrific injuries. Please think of her and say a prayer (if you are that way inclined) for her recovery. It could happen to any of us.
  18. ] Makes the same difference to me as commenting on this thread does to you, you clearly need to comment on it so youre kinda hypocritical. Yip. bustthesickness, you are hugely hypocritical. At least commenting on poor and/or irresponsible social and sporting behaviour is more constructive than you lambasting these guys on The Hub. Go and do something useful if you feel you are so morally superior Pickles2009-01-29 09:58:58
