  1. Thanks, yes, fortunately tastes differ and we are allowed our own preferences…. My issue with veganism is that I very strongly support sustainable living, and once you scratch the surface, there is nothing sustainable about modern veganism. Buying into the hype keeps feeding the beast…
  2. Thanks, but they are pretty much in the same style as most of the other trail type or bikepacking type shoes. Not really different to the leatts I have, and love. Those Stomp Locs, made from real leather, and stitched instead of glued, and pretty much devoid of any branding, and looking like a proper pair of multipurpose outdoor shoes I would happily wear with chinos to a meeting, are just special. Too much bike stuff today is plastic and polyester. I really like this, and I don’t thing there are any locally available alternatives, so I guess I will need to start saving….coz after duties they’re gonna be seriously expensive…. But with proper care, at least they should last a decade or so…
  3. Today is the first time since dropping DSTV I regret it.
  4. Can you point me in the direction of the locally available options? My leatts are pretty normal looking in that they resemble other sneakers, but they are clearly still bikeshoes. Would love a pair of low key plain leather spd compatible shoes for daily use
  5. I refuse to support anything that promotes itself as vegan for starters. And the style/look of the stom lox is what is most appealing to me about them.
  6. On eurosport+ 3, but without any commentary, or Eurosport+ 10 with German commentary. Not on either of the 2 main Eurosport channels. Also not impressed. Seems it’s only available with English commentary if you watch via gcn+. seriously not impressed with this discovery/Eurosport thing. Bring back Red Bull
  7. Anyone know of anything remotely similar locally available? I came across a review of these on bike rumour, and now I just have to have a pair. I have always wondered why no one makes bike shoes that look like normal shoes I would actually wear. But at USD250, plus shipping and probably 45% import duties, that’s going to be an insanely expensive shoe. https://stomplox.com/ Anything similar available locally, or if imported, at a bit of a more reasonable price?
  8. With all the new coverage set up and that, is there a website that lists all the events, their times and where to watch? jumping between juniors on YouTube, practice/qualifiers on a combo of YouTube and GCN/Eurosport and finals only on GCN/Eurosport/DSTV…. It’s a bit hard to plan ones watching schedule.
  9. Context? What are you trying to say? I’m truly lost
  10. Will check it out. Gotta love Warner. Was an absolute basket case in his racing days, but his passion for the sport, and for people and experiences is almost infectious. Just rewatched the Robs Wild Rides series on RBTV last night, also definately worth the time.

    GCN+

Until DSTVs chokehold on broadcast rights in South Africa is broken, which unfortunately is protected by our very uncompetitive laws in this space, and those laws are the only things keeping multi choice afloat, you will always require a VPN to get access to decent content in South Africa, especially if you want it an affordable price.
  12. Yep, her. She just doesn’t do it for me… I really miss the RBTV presenters. Guessing Bart’s contract was with UCI and not directly with Redbull, so I am glad at least he has been kept. Cedric Garcia is good with the downhill coverage, but I do miss Robs passion at both DH and XC

    GCN+

Via VPN. But the Eurosport and GCN+ broadcast is the same feed. Same as you get on supersport, if you have Dstv. I have had no issues with the feed at all this weekend so far.
  14. Nope. Not her. Brunette with overbotoxed lips, and really odd fashion sense, that looked very out of place at a MTB event.

    GCN+

Why if I may ask? Been swopping between gcn+ and eurosport all weekend. Feed has been fine, but miss the Rob Warner commentary
  16. What a run for Rachel on her comeback! Magical stuff. Must say, I'm not in love with the new format. There was something special about the all or nothing one run format. All in all, still gald to be watching racing again! Glad GM was protected for finals, hoping he can pull out some magic in his run! Something sad knowing it's the last season we will see him racing the world cup...
  17. Watching ladies DH finals now. Must say I really miss the passion of Rob Warner. Can't say the visuals are any better than RBTV provided, but the commentary needs help. Who is the botox babe doing the trackside interviews? Yesterday at shortcourse and today for DHI, she looks totally out of place.
  18. Hi guys. So i have signed up for IPTV with IPTV WOD, pretty impressed with the offering etc, but I’m battling to find a decent IOS app that has good tv guide features, and also allows casting to chromecast/airplay. Most I have tried are very bad, or require a paid version to open the option for airplay/Casting. VLC works well for casting, but it’s not ideal for searching channels etc. What iOS would you guys recomend.
  19. Whatever you do, make sure you do it soon. Bike theft seems to be out of control these days. I would feel more comfortable driving a newly bought car than a newly bought bicycle before insuring it…
  20. This seems to be going around in circles. Sani2C is a great event, and anyone who has the chance should ride it. But it should not be the yardstick against which MTB is measured. There is a time and a place for well manicured flow trails, and a time and place for rough, rocky technical and treacherous ones. I am glad the OP got to to complete both this year and last years Monster. But I think last year may have been an exceptionally “easy” year by Monster standards, with the race returning to form this year. If the OP likes hills, but not technical stuff so much, then I recomend he signs up for a WTF challenge with the PEMBIS, that is good fun, and separates the men from the boys in terms of climbing, without being too technical. Sabie Classic is also a great event with a good balance between smooth, but steed and long climbs, and some techy descents, but nothing too harsh (as long as it doesn’t rain too much). Rather than suggest the organisers soften the monster to suit the type of riding you enjoy, go out and focus on the events that suit you better. Thats the beauty of having as many events as we have to choose from in SA
  21. Thanks for sharing this. Was looking for some new channels to follow to keep my YouTube feed interesting, and this is just what I needed. very cool to see the guys so candid, and just being lekker.
  22. So wie dink jy betaal die res van ons se fietse en medies?
  23. Sure. But there are tons of events out there catering for them. Probably 90% of events out there cater for this crowd. So instead of whinging about the handful of events that are actually worth riding for those of us that prefer technical trails, rather just accept that this event isn’t for you.
  24. Is there a specific reason your choosing mid July? Weather conditions can be pretty wild that time of year.
  25. Assuming carbon frame and forks? I wouldn’t even think about it. Drilling random holes into frame to fit mounts will affect the layup. Moulding carbon to create mounts is properly skilled work, and generally worked into the overall design for proper load distribution. The force applied at brake mounts is intense. My opinion, not worth it in any way. Unless you have a very skilled carbon fabricator on hand.
