Thanks IanJ for providing your experiences. Its good for healthy debate to have experiences from both sides of the coin.
We also get a few rain spiders. Heres a big bugger from about a year ago:
I have heard similar stories of other bike chain stores (who have just opened up in Roodepoort as well as moving to new premises in Fourways), who will buy a bike, then build it up with different specs to the ones from the bike manufacturer. Therefore the unwitting customer trying to compare apples with apples chooses the 'better' pricde, except it doesn't come with standard components!
Here's some info from last year's riders to whet the appetite!
Hehehehe! See you there
I could watch them... from the safe side of some bulletproof glass!
EGAD! She's even more ugly than the one I had!
Holy roller, sign up for KalChal next year! Even if you don't see elephants, you'll see rhino!
Actually I'm not that bad, I can deal with it being there (for the length of time it takes for it to be carried outside!) without screaming, but you wouldn't catch ME taking it out!
Forgot to post yesterday.
You can all tease me about riding Mashatu, but I'm riding slickrock at Fouriesburg the weekend of the 15th, so there!
tent? disposable braai? minibar? camp chair? fold-up axe?
Where's your extra deraileur hanger?
Thanks Mich....appreciate the comments. My skills aren't that great' date=' really![/quote']HAHAHAHAHA! Oh, you were being seriousYou ride darn well, but I guess it's easy to feel intimidated surrounded by such amazing riders (and rides!). One day I wanna ride half as well as that chick in the Disneyland pics!
Heeheehee! No, I have a stage race pack that lives in my Camelpak that includes:
HR, we'll DEFINITELY get along! My Camelbak is armd with lube, powerlinks, small medic kit, and other various parts (don't forget duct tape!)
Seriously, the only solution that I have used successfully is getting off the bike to relube, but this was a river crossing on a 70km stage, so I wasn't racing for a win...
MichH2007-08-28 05:51:21Don't ride in mud?
Mints, i'm blown away. Firstly, respect for riding that! Secondly, damn I'm jealous, of the rides you did, being there for Crankworx, heck just your skills to be able to ride that.
Thanks Thyolo, it's kinda embarassing in a cool, look at me kinda way!
