  1. Hey DR, sorry for belated response Bolt is tight yes, hoping the new chain and cables will sort out the shifting, putting them on today
  2. Appreciate the offer Edereese! Im all the way in Paarl but i bought a new chain chain and cables so hoping that will sort it out!
  3. Sorry for late reply, i kinda follow that process on initial setup of the derailleur but i just bought a new chain and inner / outer cable so when setting up ill do just that!
  4. yoyo! Sorry somehow the reply notifications slipped by me To answer your questions: Granny and all the gears were shifting immaculately before hub service I reckon that cassette has 2000km on it? Got a new chain beginning of year but didnt ride as much The cassette sits tightly on with the lock-ring on, no play, there's a reasonable gap between spokes, can fit a finger between it Buy a new bike! thats exactly what i was thinking, Wreckoning V2 should solve all the shifting issues haha I was going to service the hub and BB but haven't yet Limit screws etc were all done, i know 12spd eagle needs a special B tension tool which im going to borrow UPDATE: i bought a chain checker and this chain is vrot bananas haha, was in-between 0.75 and 1.0! So i bought a new chain, and also a new inner and outer housing cable as well, im pretty sure those should work, hoping the cassette is fine also Thanks again for the advice and always appreciate a good essay!
  5. just did some reading up and the i9 hubs dont need use a spacer i wonder what it could be!
  6. Its possible its in the wrong place, ill take the cassette off tomorrow after my ride and check!
  7. Ah yes sorry, its NX with shimano freehub body Thats what i thought it might be but i was pretty careful with all the cogs, but i didnt see an extra spacer, is it possible to fit it on the wrong side? surely it wouldn't fit there?
  8. Howdy I decided to take the plunge and do my first rear hub / freehub full service, bearings and alles (industry 9 hub) But when i put everything back on the bike and went for a ride i noticed the granny gear kept wanting to drop down So adjusted indexing on the trail and didnt really help Back home i checked hangar, redid the limit screws, and indexed to the point where it stays on the lowest gear mostly, but didnt compromise the highest gear It almost looks like the cassette is too close to the wheel and thats throwing the alignment off, is that possible? if it was too far away from the wheel i would think i fitted something wrong but too close sounds weird, unless there is a spacer thats to go at the end of the cassette or the lock ring is too right? I didn't use a bearing press but they looked pretty flush on the hub Drive train is a Sram 1x12 Eagle with an XO derailleur Any help would be greatly appreciated because im an unfit sack of **** and granny gear is my only friend Gratitude
  9. Okay so update for those who are interested... As the XT shifters were only going to arrive in over a month and i was advised against a Sunrace derailleur event though it was the cheapest option and was compatible with my shifter, i found a new Sram XO1 derailleur for a steal! After installing it i found the shifter a hella lot better, but under further inspection i found out why the chain drops on back pedalling The crank has a spacer from the BB to get the chain line right for Evils built in chain guide, but for a 1x12 throws the chain line so much from the biggest rear cog that it will always pull the chain down, and then the the chain getting stuck is just the derailleur pushing the chain into the casssette Although it has gotten better with the new mech as there is far less lateral movement Anyways, stoked it's sorted, and now back to the trails!
  10. I was actually considering a Shimano XT replacement! As @morne said i cant find shifters online anywhere
  11. With the chain off the freehub coasts like a buttery dream, these are solid Industry Nine hubs that are only 6 months old. Haha not worth an insurance claim, new Sunrace Derailleur is only R1200 Will post update how it works
  12. So it seems that my problem kinda came to a solution all on its own... At the start of stage 5 at todays Hoogekraal enduro, the chain sucked off and ripped the derailleur jockey wheel clean off haha. What a **** show, but at least now i am forced to get a different one that hopefully works Im thinking the Sunrace 12 spd derailleur as it's compatible with my shifter and cassette. https://www.evobikes.co.za/components/rear-derailleurs/sunrace-rear-derailleur-mx60-10-11-12spd.html What do you guys think?
  13. Thanks for the response guys! @Schnavel correct i did replace the hanger but not the derailler @David I have the official Eagle B tension tool and have it set correctly @the bob i checked the cassette for wear but not for bent teeth, will have a look. I didn't set B tension with Sag, Im guessing i would need someone to sit on the bike for this or vice versa? @DJR how could I fix a sticking freehub? Dissemble and re-grease the pawls? Would that cause the chain so skip or do you think it's 2 problems coinciding? @Lance the 1x11 GX on my previous bike never gave me a single problem, but i can imagine the 1x12 giving more issues. I really dont think that knock on the derailler helped it either. Back pedalling on the middle gears is much more smooth, but still catches on about 5 or 6 rotations
  14. Hey guys I know one doesn't do a lot of back pedalling but i want to sort this out for 2 reasons: 1.) Every time i clean my bike, i back pedal the cranks to clean the cassette / chain ring etc, and not only does the chain drop but the drive train seizes and pulls the derrailer up and the chain just slackens out / sticks. 2.) Sometimes on the trail when i just need to align my crank before dropping in, even a half back rotation causes the same issue. I have to pick up the rear wheel and pedal forward to get the chain free moving again. Issue happens mostly on the biggest cog, which isn't worn or anything. For information sake bike is a 2019 Evil Offering, with a 1x12 Sram NX Eagle drive train I did have a crash when i first got the bike that hit the derailler, so it has a new hanger on for a while now. I can imagine it's chain-line related, but short of adjusting b tension and cable adjustments, I'm not to sure how to solve this. Chain isn't worn either, but maybe a new one will help? Chain length feels right. I guess i could try another derailler but i want to see what are my options first The bike shifts fine 80% of the time in normal riding, i just think 1x12 eagle can be a bit finicky Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
