  1. What a Shock - Bruce there is nothing we can say to fill that gap in your life right now - but we remember him as a champ. From his early days getting you time penalties in Epic to his fabulous riding this past year. You can remember him PROUDLY and we will miss following him!
  2. Thinking of you Brad - You are destined for big things so get back on the bike soon!
  3. Cheers Al Condolences to Wendy and your sons (who I never met) and Vanessa. From our Junior days in Pepsi Rand Roads with Tony Impey and the Southern Tvl Track teams, through to the Rapport Tours and your racing in Peugeot in St Niklass - Al had a great spirit and Gave (not sold - gave) me my first true racing bike back (his white Grand Prix that he won the Junior tour on in 1972!) when he worked for Grand Prix Cycles and Ronnie Jones. We knew then how good you were and the world is a sadder place not having you here. Rode Amashova with him last year and caught up on old times. The rider with the greatest style and sheer self - belief RIP boet!
  4. All the Best - Great initiative and sure Hope it works out!
  5. Good Luck All - wish we were there this year! Ah maybe next time
  6. All I can say is .... In gauteng we sit in Traffic jams all year to earn enough to afford a holiday to come down there and see that view for a day or 2 and then back into the rat race! We envy you!!!!!!!!!
  7. I use (and enjoy) Imagic all the time - Tour Flanders, Alp D'Huez etc You will improve time trialling and steady state riding for sure!!! Great training and SAFE from traffic but there is still something about the wind in your face that makes the road still the best.
  8. I had the pleasure of seeing Kim win her World Title in Sydney 2007 on the track. The team got to know one another well over the 5 days and her passing is a great loss. What a fantastic rider yet such humble person - South african cycling has lost a great ambassador. Rest in peace Kim. Mike Thomson
  9. Fabulous Lynette! after years of promise - this is it!
  10. Banji We need some adrenaline mixed with testosterone! Give us some controversial news man!
  11. Porky I need to get my post count up so that I can get out of Rookie status - so I will engage for a while! You seem to think that support for Doug is a support for a robust management style. Nonsense, I just said that he achieves what is desired by his sponsor - publicity. It is a matter of context! There are thousands of books on Leadership style that propagate exactly what you say but there are also thousands of practical examples where the opposite has been successful. Doug would not manage a team of IT consultants (I understand that is his background) in that manner - they would walk out. Cyclists are a different breed and do not for one minute think they do not give back when the mechanic does not change a wheel quick enough after a puncture etc.
  12. Porky you seem to be upset (NEVER) - capitals indicates shouting by the way!. There are many examples of successful leaders that shout and rant and rave example Sol Kerzner / Donald Trump are known to tell people off. Many Soccer managers scream and shout for 90 minutes! Motivation in war scenarios is not done by soft spoken negotiation - it is command and rule. Perhaps if you have ridden a stage race or two you may understand. As an employee or service provider you can choose the style you will or will not accept.
