Ok, all you guys who posted on this thread, will I see you there?

Will be doing some singletrack in eden, not a fixed route (if someone knows of a cool track close by we will divert..... no pressure for a specific route... will probably ride from 8 till 1, but there is lots of places where anyone who wants to head back can fall out and head back..... no pressure.

Already doing the stellenbosch race next week.... races hurting my budget, so holding back....

Details: Start time: 08h00 Place: La Romantica Parking lot, Stellenbosch, opposite golf course Route: Ride to Jonkershoek via Eden and Coetzenburg.

Probably around 50km.... includes the ride from stellenbosch to jonkers and back... but the ride is as far as you want it to be..... near main roads all the time, so you can bail as soon as you feel like it....

For the guys not riding in Paarl saturday.... I wanna do a ride, through eden, coetzenburg and jonkershoek. anybody welcome. J

I agree Marius..... I'm not a weight weenie... (yet) but if I were to become one, I wouldn't use skimpy tyres..... I think you need more than one hand to count the amount of races Burry Stander lost due to puncturing out....

I personally believe a super duper light bike is overrated...... Buddy of mine doesn't follow a eating plan what so ever... rides a 13kg dual susser and I can say with 99% certainty that he beats most of the weight weenies on races.... but hey..... would I prefer a light bike over a heavy one. Of course yes! (wouldn't sacrifice my tubeless for it though....)

Why isn't there an option for Crosstrail in the poll? I ride with crosstrail..... more than a year of hard riding..... no problems at all! Smooth ride, and the mavic hubbs on them is awesome (very very fast). When freeing downhill very few guys keep up with me......

You can get the Schwinn moab (better specs than the Mesa or felt) for about R7500......

Right, several reasons why I think that the Ceres Valley is the best place to live..... 1. Dis die lekker platteland, 120km van die kaap af, so darem nie in die grammadoelas nie.... 2. Ok, I know this is a stupid question from someone who has been riding for quite some time, but here goes.... The last couple of times I washed my bike (same way as I always washed it, with water and Prepsol), the chain rusts quite a lot over night.... didn't happen usually, but now every time.....

I ride a mongoose canaan.... (reinforced). more than a year of rough riding, no probs...... and I weigh 105kg.....

Did some checking now..... X.0 rear derailleur at CRC 145 quid.... 1pound = R13.20 thus: R1914...... without shipping.... I paid R1550 at my LBS.....

this topic is as old as the mountains, I know, but still I want to mention my experience..... I upgraded my shifters and RD through LBSs on wednesday, costs were as follows: SRAM x.0 grip shifters: R730 SRAM x.0 rear derailleur: R1550 Total R2280 I reckon that is cheap? Especially if you take into account that this include fittment and fine tuning (something in which I suck), and that it is done in one day..... my 2c = LBS

You make a noticable point Crow..... I'm sure you could get an X.0 groupset for almost the same price as XT...... with quality nearer to XTR......

My previous bike I bought was completely fitted with sram/truvativ/avid/rockshox....... (all part of the same company, or group atleast), so I got a good deal!

as a total noob regarding mechanics...... what is the barrel adjusters......

just curious.... what does the XTR shifters and RD retail for these days? I got my X.0 gripshifts and RD for R2300.....

The reason I ask is because I recently got the SRAM x.0 gripshift groupset..... and I find it hard to believe that something else can be better.... comments?
