  4. Hi All Have a team mate that missed the Argus entry cut off and would like to take part in the race. If anyone has an entry they are not going to use, kindly let me know? Thanks
  5. Hi All I'm trying to find out if my 10spd chorus cranks will work with 11spd chain? Considering upgrading my groupset with shifters, rear mech, chain and wanted to know if i would need to chance the cranks too?? Thanks
  6. Thanks for all the help... will get in contact with the guys!
  7. Hi All... I'm thinking of getting a coach to help with my training. I have a power meter (Power Tap) and have been training with it for 2 year and been improving slowly. However I'm interested to find out if I would have better results/gains If I had a "coach"? If anyone know's of any "coaches" or could recomend anyone specific, please let me know? Thanks
  8. Thanks for the Advise, much appreciated! I have also dropped JB a PM regarding the experiments you mentioned.
  9. So I've been thinking overnight.... What if I stripped the paint(still not sure how I would do that?) and then just put a clear coat over the existing carbon weave? Anyone have any advise on weather that is possible or not advisable?
  10. Hi All I have a carbon frame that I would like to "re-spray". I have done a DIY Alu frame before and it turned out quite nicely. I went the whole way with the Alu frame... Stripping it down to the bare metal and then priming and painting. With a carbon frame I am weary of how I would or if I should even strip the current coat of paint before re-spraying? Any and all advise on this little DIY project would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
  11. Thanks Johan.... When I'm up in Jhb again I will give you a call! Looking forward to getting them fixed, as they are really nice wheels!
  12. Hi All This morning I popped my Eurus front wheel in and went for a ride... I hit front brakes during the ride and felt the breaks "catching" at a certain point. So I stopped and checked and to my SHOCK I found that the rim has a "dent" on either side. Now my question.... I really love these wheels and would like to know if there is any way to have these "dents" repaired? They aren't big dents and thus I'm hoping will easily be repaired? I can only imagine these dents were caused by a pothole?? Attached is a poor quality picture attempting to illustrate the dents.
  13. Thanks Johan. I understand what your saying about the water getting into the BB area and causing damage over a period of time. This frame was only 3months only and besides cleaning with a wet/damp rag, had never been subjected to water? Where would I be able to buy "copperslip"?
  14. I read the warranty(below) on the web regarding my R3sl. From my limited understanding, The frame has a Lifetime warranty on manufacturer defects for as long as I'm the first time owner? Am I correct in my understanding? WARRANTY DETAILS (from Cervelo website) Starting January 1, 2004, each Cervélo SA (Cervélo) bicycle frame purchased after this date is warranted by Cervélo SA against defects in workmanship and materials for as long as the frame is owned by the original owner, excluding paint and decals. (Cervélo bicycle frames purchased before this date came with a four year warranty). This covers ALL bicycle frame models Cervélo offers. This warranty is expressly limited to either the repair or replacement of the defective frame – the decision to repair and replace to be at the sole discretion of Cervélo – and no other remedies are available under the warranty. Cervélo does not warrant against damage caused by normal wear and tear, improper assembly, improper maintenance, or installation of parts or accessories not originally intended for use with or compatible with the frame or bicycle sold. Cervélo does not warrant against damage or failure of Cervélo bicycle frames caused by accident, misuse, abuse or neglect. Any modification of the frame or its components shall void this warranty. All claims under this warranty must be made through an authorized Cervélo distributor. Claims will be processed only after provision by the claimant to Cervélo of proof of purchase and completion of Cervélo’s online product registration (which can be found here). Purchase Cervélo product only through authorized Cervélo retailers. This is your assurance of original Cervélo quality. Please visit our retailer locator to identify your preferred, authorized Cervélo retailer. All authorized retailers are listed on this site. Cervélo's warranty policy is valid only for Cervélo products purchased through authorized Cervélo retailers. Cervélo products purchased through any channel other than an authorized Cervélo retailer are not covered by the Cervélo warranty. Subject to the laws of your jurisdiction which prevail where applicable over the terms of this warranty, Cervélo shall not be responsible for incidental or consequential damages suffered. This warranty does not cover labor charges for parts changeovers.
  15. I know this is an old Thread, but I only managed to find it now. I have just had my second Cervelo replaced due to cracking and this in only 6 months. First frame (R3) cracked just behind the BB on both the rear stays and was replaced and then 3 weeks ago I found that my 'new' R3sl had developed cracks around the BB area on both sides. (pictures attached) This frame was also replaced. I am happy both frames were replaced & for that I thank the guys at Emotion cycling. My query is this.... We pay top price for these frames, which is supposed to be for all the R&D they put into the development of the frame. Yet, I'm already onto my Third Frame in 6 months? If these frames keep breaking every 2/3 months... at what point are they going to tell me to get knotted?? Has anyone heard of R3's that have broken frequently?
  16. Hi ALL I'm interested in buying myself a set of ZIPP 404's (carbon tubbies) and wondering if there is any weight limit? I'm 94kg's and will be slightly lighter come racing season when the wheels will mostly be used? Any and all advise greatly appreciated! Thanks...
  17. Hi All A friend has asked for my help with the purchase of two MTB's for himself and his wife. He's looking to spend in the region of R8k - R12k for each bike. Can you please help me with models and where I could get the best deals? Thanks
  18. Thanks for all the advise...... My partner has ridden the two previous Epics and we've spoken at length about "pacing" ourselves for the whole event! The GOAL is too finish in Lourensford!! The bike I'm riding is my Cannondale Scalpel (Reba race front shock), which is kitted out with Gobi saddle, XT tubeless wheels, Sram XO components (except front deraileur X9) and Juicy Ultimate brakes....... Anything regarding my bike that needs attention? I'm gonna be riding with Specialized Taho shoes (apparently good for walking??) and I'll be wearing Assos Pants. Does anyone have advise on which gloves would be the best?? I ride mostly road bike, but do venture out on my MTB regularly.... I've taken part in a few MTB races... Karoo2Coast(twice), Die Hell (Twice) and Trans Baviaans(Twice, 13hours being my best). These all pale in comparison too the Epic and hence my post asking for any and all advise!! Looking forward to reading more from you guys.... Thanks Again!!
  19. Hi I know this is "late" to be asking advise regarding the Epic, but this wasn't in my plans...... I was asked to ride by a friend who's partner had too withdraw due too a viral infection that has been causing him problems and even hospitalised him! We have done the substution and I'm entered too ride! With regards too training I know it's too late to do anything, so i'm just sticking to my current program and gonna put in a 4-5 hour ride this weekend! My actual question is regarding tires, gels, shoes, and anything else I would need too make it through the race? Any and ALL help will be greatly appreciated Thanks
  20. What do you estimate the winning time to be? I've done the two stage event twice and the 40km coming back out of "Die Hell" is tough.... very tough!!
