  1. Guy's I need Bill's details - got a bb that needs a little TLC..
  2. Edman hit it on the head with his tip. Swiss Stop are definitely the best so you shouldnt have any problems although where alot of guys go wrong is not switching them out when using Alu rimms. This can cause little pieces of metal/dirt/residue to become embeeded in the brake block - not ideal for your carbon rimm.
  3. Sorry to hear that. Theses bus drivers also race down Oxford Rd in the morning and then cut in front of you before screeching to a stop. They really are not much better than the taxi drivers at the moment...
  4. they are basically double EU prices...someone is making mobey - esp since there is no duty applicable..so who is making the cash?
  5. best bet is to get a mate to bring them back for you. VAT and duties are heavy on any clothing or shoes. Edman's calc's are about right or speak to your local clearing agent (any freight forwarder or international courier company will give you the detail). Also remember customs has their own exchange rate and formulas for VAT.
  6. Also impressed with service and pricing. The guys always try to make a plan when you need something they dont have in stock. I broke my derailer hanger 4 days before a tour to Durban - they managed to find me a compatible replacement in 24hrs when most other stores turned me away. From what I have heard WM is a more modern store focused only on cycling..
  7. I have only used the Park Tool patches as a backup - i.e. when you have used your spare tube (not a regular puncture fixing method) but every time they have worked 100%. Definitely recommended.
  8. Good point. Will contact the importer, but as you say the warranties these days are well worded and it seems (from what I hear) that the guys are getting sticky on frame replacement - guess it cause they are not exactly selling tons of bikes at the moment. Biggest problem is I have the limited edition SL2 WC edition (2009) so its not really replaceable...
  9. Also a big hassle to fit. checkout you Tube for the demo. Although Campag has started making 2way fit systems for alot of their wheels so maybe they know something we dont.
  10. It seems a number of the high end carbon frames end up with cracks around the BB area and for some reason usually on the side opposite the crank. My specialized SL2 has ahairline crack forming at the 12 o clock region and a mate of mine has a similar crack on his cervelo R3SL, both only 18 months old. The manufacturers say its a paint crack as they use a filler between the BB and the carbon frame to obatin a smooth finish. Chatting to the guys on Saturday after the group ride it seems the problem is not uncommon, but opinions vary on the cause/whether its detrimental to the bike. anyone got any advice or had the same experience?
  11. Definitely wheels, expecially a good quality pair with decent spokes and bearings...just my 5c
  12. nice..the guys in JHB seem to check everything...
  13. Just remember the SA VAT is calculated on the foreign amount (probably Euro) multiplied by the SARS exchange rate to obatin a Rand amount. 10% is added to this Rand value and then the 14% VAT is calculated on this amount. There is also a handling fee of R30 (if I remember correctly).
  14. Ronster can you post some contact details?
  15. I would guess that you would need at least 2 months of rding. It would really depend on your expectation in terms of race times though. To start though you will need to build up your base miles by completing longer rides on the weekend and then doing back to back rides (Sat&Sun) to improve endurance. The best intensity training will be to actually start racing the smaller events of which there are a few every month..there is no substitution for actual racing. This will also help build your seeding which is also key in competing... To give you an idea we ride about 80-100km on a Staurday and then 100-160km on Sundays...but that you need to build up to...
