  1. Was wondering if, front derailleur aside, it was a simple 'swap' switching from 53 to a compact. Also are there issues with 9 speed and 10 speed compatability?
  2. its the clear frame protector tape that people stick on to stop scratching of the frame. Typically it's used in small amounts to stop cable rub, but it's also used along the lenght of the down tube and top bar to keep the frame free from marks and looking new. It's quite heavy duty stuff, clear in appearance and very easy to apply
  3. Maybe It's a crazy idea, maybe not, but I'm either to stupid and or to forward to really care, so I'll just ask...... I've just picked up a PowerTap SL and wanted to know if anyone had tried or used helicoptor tape instead of cable ties to fit the cabling, how it worked out or if it was even worth trying..... (I'll try most things once) PPWTF2008-04-06 08:34:57
  4. I'm looking into paying to have my road and MTB rides set up properly and wanted to get peoples experience based opinions about the different things available, above and beyond saddle height, reach to bar, bar height stuff. Looking at the "FIT KIT ROTATIONAL ADJUSTMENT DEVICE (RAD)" that Daisyway Coaching systems use, they've a web link to www.bikefitkit.com on the site. This looks just like the Specialized Body Geometry approach to getting knee, upper and lower leg properly aligned. What I'm getting at is, I don't wanna just pay for science, I need to be sure that I'm getting real value for the money I'm paying out. We've all been blinded by the sales pitch and terminology before, but what is actually money well spent? Just wanted to get some feed back on where best to go for a proper setting up session. Thanks for any advice
  5. Holy roller, Just trying to generate some interest in a post in the hope getting an answer about the original question. Does seem unlikely though. The DTI are about as willing to play as hannibal lecter so i'd hoped that this would be the place to find an answer...... fingers still crossed
  6. But seriously, is there anyone on the forum who'll make an educated guess at the financial worth of the market, the number of bikes imported or sold in SA each year etc Serious answers sought, humor welcome :-)
  7. So, can anyone tell me anything interesting about the SA cycle market.... aside for the fact that the love of lycra and shaven legs is nothing more than a cover for a bunch of guys who like to be called 'Wendy' at the weekend......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Thanks very much for the contact, Will do that now. Very much appreciated
  9. my mistake.... Does anyone know how many bikes, approximately, where sold in SA last year, what cash value the market actually equates to etc? I'm doing a study for a local enterprise and was looking for some kind of market figures to base some projections on. This however, was obviously not the forum in which to post a question with "fountain" in the title..... I'l try the S 'n' M forums next time i want water sports Thanks for the giggles guys, lightened my day
  10. Not sure if I'm overlooking the obvious, but can anyone recommmed a good source of facts and figures for the SA cycle industry. Google?d it and managed to find the market volume etc for places as obscure the <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Czech Republic, but there?s like zero information on SA. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Any leads greatly appreciated
