Nope not at all. With the previous 2 I weighed about 90kg's and did them on a 26"HT. As mentioned by others the single track is well manicured.

I wanted to enter this race but when reading this forum I decided against it.
+ 1
I've noticed a big group of cyclists.. road and mtb mixed that congregate at the War Museum at about 5am during the week..
Anyone know which club/ group this is, can I join in ?
Cheers
Doesn't matter what your bike weighs if you have a few extra kilos around the waist... happens to be my problem even if I have a super light bike
100% agree.. just dont want to buy and realise a month later that i bought a farm fence.
Under 9 kg is light....105 level
Under 8 kg is very light......Ultegra level
Under 7kg is superlight and Dura Ace or Red level
Under 6 kg you have to much money ....exotic carbon parts.
great !.. this helps
What is considered a "light" road bike in both carbon and ally.. what is average and what is considered too heavy..? any thoughts on this?
or maybe i should be asking is 8.4kg too heavy for an ally bike?
I've got the Cannondale CAAD8 105 and I can tell you now, I am very happy with my purchase. Even in hindsight, I wouldn't get another bike, except maybe the CAAD10. The alloy frame is on par with some of the carbon frames on the market. Get the bike, you won't regret a thing! And I'll wait for my 6 pack in the mail for the thanks!
read the rightups as well.. nice feedback
Go look at the scott cr1 comp 2011 model, full carbon with 105 groupset. They go for about R12000 brand new.
New is best, you get a proper fitting and back-up from the shop.
thanks..i been looking for one of those too, if anyone know of size 56 stock, let me know.
Who stocks Cannondale in Jhb ..?
Yip!
The frame is the essence.
The rest details.
thanks for all feedback..
done some research and down 2 these 2..
specialized allez Compact with 105.. or CAAD8 with 105
any more enlightenment will be welcomed !
Suggest you start 2nd hand: spend the bulk of your money on good racing wheels. Then see if you can get the second best groupo in whateva flavour (shimano, Sram, Campi) you want.
Least important, get a frame with whatever money is left... Watchout for the older 2nd hand carbon frames, they can be a bit dodgy, watchout for team bikes, they get well used. Do your homework on the frame manufacturer sizing, know what frame fits you.
If you can get all three in one purchase then you will really score.
thanks..are you suggesting that i actually look for the parts separately and build it up?
Best LBS and Jeandre is great.. No frills, no fuss and no pretentious chops working there !
go to a proper bike shop and get measured up..then you wont be sorry.
so, have you decided?
How much are you looking to spend?
thanks for replies..maybe 10k should get me something decent..ish..?
After riding the 94.7 on my MTB and taking a fair amount of strain but also enjoying passing a number of roadies..i may have been bitten to have a 'want' for roadbike so i can also do it way faster.
and no ways am i getting rid of my fun bike.
any suggestions for starter bikes?
I put a new cassette on a spare set of wheels so i can add slicks for the odd road ride... do I need to buy a new chain as well? The chain has done about 1300kms on the other set of wheels.
thanks.. just add tubes and go.
Need some advice on putting road tyres on my 29er for 94.7?
Do you get them in in 29er..?
check this thread:
we loved it and will definitely go back
