Did not read the whole thread. With all the rantjies bisecting Johnannesburg and Pretoria from east to west, Brown Hyena and Leopard do occur here from time to time. The koppies or randjies mostly lead to open veld to the east or west. A few years ago a leopard was shot opposite Builders Warehouse in Gezina. A leopard was recently struck by a car crossing the N1 near the Scientae crossing with the N4. Leopard have been seen on the Suikerbosrand in the Krugersdorp Roodepoort area. Brown Hyena are rarely seen as the are nocturnal animals, but they are there.
