My trusty old Polar shows MEMORY FULL when I start it. The book says if you scroll to file and press the light button it will erase the memory, it does not want to erase. I had a new battery fitted recently.

Nothing wrong with your Raleigh. Good solid Kinesis frame. I suspect that Kinesis makes/made the Commondale frames as well. The Shimano LX wide flange hubs on the Raleigh tandems are top notch. Nothing wrong with the 105 shifters. You can upgrade the brakes. We have Avid Arch Rival v-brakes on our tandem and they are very very good. They are not made anymore.
