  1. Maybe this will provide a little insight into the problem
  2. I know the hassle with the part and have spoken to the supplier directly about the issue and I understand the predicament they are in. My question is: should not the LBS have stepped in and offered some sort of "helping hand" seeing that I bought the bike from them?
  3. I bought a bike from an LBS about 6 months ago. Since then an integral part of the bike failed. I returned the part to the LBS who agreed to have it replaced under guarantee. I patiently waited for the replacement, after 2 weeks I asked for a loan unit so as to be able to ride my bike... ...Its now been 6 weeks and still nothing. Now my morality question: should I be concerned that the LBS refused me a loan unit? I understand that it was not due to neglegence on their part that the unit failed, but then again I bought the bike from them not from their supplier. Am I wrong in being a little peed? 4. I love the saddle as well, I am hoping that they are going to replace it with the titanium version (more rigid). What bike do you ride? It is definitely starting to look like a problem with the combination of the Anthem and the Gobi
  5. I see the new 2010 Anthems come with a Fizik Tundra, so the Anthem/Gobi might just be a bad match.
  6. I gather Ant Nash is the importer/agent for the Fizik range? Do you have his contact details please?
  7. For any repairs/maintenance to an MTB you will not get better than Rob Rudman at Cyclopro. They are in the Elliot Center off William Moffett Expressway. Their number is 0413687244
  8. I bought a Giant Anthem X1 about 4 months back and was happy to see it was shipped with a Fizik Gobi saddle as I have only heard good things about it. I initially had nothing but praise for the saddle, I even recommended it to a few mates. All was fine until my ride this past weekend was ruined by a break right through the saddle. http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/GromitZA/SP_A0157-1.jpg Thankfully the bike including its saddle is still under warranty. What worries me though is that a brief chat with the shop assistant revealed that this is a common problem and they alone have returned over 5 of the "manganese rail' versions. Has anyone else had any problems with these saddles? Obviously they are going to replace it with the same saddle and I really don't want this to happen again. I also don't feel that after spending R26k on a bike that I should have to replace the saddle with a more "robust" make/model.
  9. "When paired with a Garmin heart rate monitor" does that not mean it does not come bundled out the box with a HRM? OK maybe my post was a bit vague... Wonder what the HRM costs?
  10. No heart rate monitor
  11. I am 110kg and have been using Time Atac pedals for a few months and have not had a single glitch even in some thick mud.
  12. The big dude on the anthem
  13. You need to let your fellow peddlers know of these stints in the valley. Some of us are not only nocturnal
  14. It depends what you call a puncture? If you mean a "flat" then a tube is by far more prone.
  15. If you ride like a pro you get punctures like a pro
  16. Anything to do with Telkom's crap browsing speed the last couple of weeks? Me thinks yes
  17. My wife has jut started spinning at gym with the goal of getting fit enough to join me on an MTB. The problem is that her 'lady bits' are getting chaffed beyond comfort. When I started cycling my ass got sore but I just muscled on and the pain eventually subsided. This however is not the answer my wife is looking for. So calling all the ladies, what do you do to prevent this?
  18. I am sure you guys must be tired of these topics. I am unfortunately a bit of a noob and don't have access to the level of expertise as unbiased as this forum so therefore I have no option but to ask the question. I am 115kgs (hopefully less soon), 1.93m tall. I bought myself a Raleigh Nomad back in 2007 and have enjoyed every second of it. As my ability has improved the bike is unfortunately falling short of my requirements and am therefore looking for a suitable replacement. Like most people these days I don't have a huge budget, embarrassingly only about R10k - R12k max. I have looked at a few options under the classified section and have been drawn to the Mongoose Khyber Elite. I think it would suit my needs as I don't do much XC stuff but rather enjoy trails and fast tracks with allot of technical areas. My questions therefore are as follows: Would this bike be too small for me?Is there a better option bike for my price range?I know these qustions might have obvious answers to some, but please remember I am new to the higher range of bikes on the market so any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any advice. Gromit2009-02-15 11:04:14
