  2. I'm up from Kzn &decided at last minute to go do 60km. Superb race &well organised with great course. Well done organisers!!
  3. Definitely back next year! Perhaps organisers need to shift date so it doesn't clash with Jhb2C as this takes away part of their field. It was a day all of us will remember forever!
  4. What an awesome day!! Headwinds were hectic for most of the day but the fellow cyclists, race crew &supporters were awesome. Congrats to everyone who finished y'day!! We can be very proud of ourselves :-)
  5. Just wanted to say as a roadie who is making the transition to the Mtb, I found this event to be an awesome experience! I have done countless multiday road tours &many Comrades..& I put this event right up there in terms of enjoyment &atmosphere. I am training for Trans Karoo in 2 weeks time & I am sure this event will have prepared me well for Trans Karoo. Devlin, well done for staging such a great event. It would have been nice to have a tshirt or medal, but I'm sure we all understand the preicament you found yourself in with regards to sponsorship & budget. Thanks for a wondferful event &all your effort!
  6. I am doing it!
  7. Awesome race...this roadie found out yesterday that mtb'ing is not for sissies!!

  14. Hey G-Unit, check out the website : www.transkaroomtb.co.za We have 17 &half hours to complete. Just don't forget to complete your entry before leaving website :-)
  15. Hey Eddy, I live in a place called Mount West..about 25km from Nottingham Road. Its in the mountains with only gravel roads...perfect mtb terrain! I have been staying on one of our farms here near SBR in Gauteng for a few months helping at our head office. I'm going back after Easter weekend. I've also run 11 Comrades..fortunately only one over 9 hrs! But I've shared the road for hours with so many people that as you said..you don't even know their names! Email me at dave@rpbfarms.co.za, maybe we can hook up for a lap around SBR. &to all the others doing TK, come &join us!
  16. I think you are on the right track.. I have found from all my long distance cycling that regular eating &gentle pacing are the recipe for successful long distance cycling. Good company along the way is also a huge plus!! I would however advise of a few longish rides on your mtb. I did 143km ride on Sat on my mtb &I'm going to do 2 more 140-150km rides on my mtb before TK. I live 7km from entrance to Kareekloof in Suikerbosrand area so may also go train there. My biggest fear is not the distance but technical problems with the bike! Anyways I really believe its going to be an awesome &special event for all of us competing..something that we going to remember &cherish for the rest of our lives! I look forward to sharing the dirt roads of the Karoo with all of you that have entered
  17. I live on a farm which shares a fence with Suikerbosrand. I train daily on all the roads that surround the reseve. There is continually discarded goo sachets on the roads from cyclists. The day after Ride for Sight looked really disgusting with tons of discarded packaging &bottles on the roads. I felt ashamed of our cyclists!! We really need to try police those cycling around us to stop this disgusting behaviour!!
  18. Thanks for the vote of confidence!! I'm about to find out if my arse is made of steel or not !!
  19. ****, hope that road isn't too corrugated.. I have got 29er hardtail!!
  20. I'm entering solo on hardtail. Who else is doing solo? Have done many road tours with multiple 200km+ days so hopefully will manage this one!!
  21. Awesome race! Well Done organisers!
