  1. LOL, not that's just a pic i grabbed from Google images
  2. Thanks for comments so far.. Keep 'em coming...
  3. Hey guys Mate of mine is looking at getting a Raleigh Team Carbon: Can you please give some feedback on this bike in particular, and also owning a carbon bike in general: likelihood of breaking/cracks etc etc... Thoughts please? Thank you!
  4. Thanks! Yeah I'm uber stoked for it...
  5. Group OE, 9:56 First Argus; first seeding race event. I'll be bringing up the rear
  6. I reckon this route encompasses the most evil that PE has to offer http://g.co/maps/pztn5 Kragga Kamma Right into Lakeside Right into Seaview Left into Cape Road Left into Draaifontein Down "The Wall" Right into M9, up "Maitlands Climb" Left into Seaview up "5k Climb" Left into de Stades, the easy way over the "3 Sisters" Up "The Wall" Right into Tembani Right into Seaview Left into Kragga Right into Lakeside Left up "Old Seaview" Left up "Chelsea" Up "Welcome Ave" Back to Kragga Kamma Who's keen?
  7. Good idea, thanks! Have heard about this climb, but not yet done it. Will be sure to do it in a group though, for safety sake. Thanks! The event sounds like a great practice run, although I've made a plan to cycle to jBay on Saturday, and back on Sunday - Both times through Van Staden's valley, which is quite a climb too...
  8. Hey guys Doing my first Argus this year. Can anyone from PE who's done it, recommend some climbs that rival the steepness/length of some of the climbs on the Argus Route? For eg: The Wall Maitlands towards Beachview Beachview towards Maitlands Maitlands towards, and including de Stades ('3 Sisters') Old Seaview Road, into Chelsea etc... Don't wanna be taken too much by surprise at the Argus so would love to get a list of the most daunting hills in PE and try combine them into a single ride Thanks for your comments!
  9. Oh sorry to bug... also just noticed that the Classifieds dropdown menu link for "indoor trainers", goes to "hydration packs". IE it's linking to https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/category/76-hydration-packs/ instead of https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/category/62-indoor-trainers/ FYI...
  10. Happy to help
  11. Hey TheHub Mods Loving the new forum design Noticed something odd with the thumbnails attached to posts though, especially in classifieds. They're currently looking like this -> http://d.pr/OCFN Meh... With just a teensy bit of CSS awesomeness: #attach_wrap {float:left;} You get this -> http://d.pr/stXV Much of niceness Just a thought... Use it, don't use it

  13. Geez I would be paranoid driving around with my bike being held in with suction cups.
  14. Ya I just called Wayne Pheiffer and he told me as much... The Thule roof racks + required cross bars etc is about R3.5k and then you still gotta get the bike rack itself which is another R2k... I was concerned about the reliability/trustworthiness of the "strap-on" bike racks but he reckons Thule have a 6-point strap-based bike rack that is 100% safe and only costs ±R1200 which is more in my budget...
  15. Perhaps, but its more than I was looking to spend... I mean its a 1.6 - not like i'm going to be able to tow anything else I'm installing it JUST to carry my bike around. I have the strips on my roof with the roofrack mounting points, so I'll get the racks myself.. What I'm more looking for, is feedback on which Thule(?) roof rack mounted bike rack to get and if there are any considerings to keep in mind with regards said rack.
  16. Heya Cheapest quote I could find in PE to have a towbar fitted to my ford focus 1.6 was around R2500 which is a bit steep IMO. So i'm looking at just popping on some roof racks and then getting the roof rack bike rack... Before I go down this route, is there anything I should be aware of? Are the roof-rack-mounted bike racks ok in general? Not more likely to damage the bike? Any other considerations? Thanks!
  17. I've done 2 cycles with them so far.. one of them a 90km ride and it was awesome. I thought I'd ordered a size too small and half expected to have that 'hot foot' thing where your foot aches in a shoe that's too small, but i never did. the carbon sole makes for a solid feeling under your foot - like your pedals are the full length of your shoe, not just a 3x1cm strip of metal. I dont have a massive point of reference as these are my first decent shoes - i'd previously worn 2nd hand shoes i got when i got my bike for R300... So I can't compare them to the sidi's etc, but on their own merit, they're epic
  18. It's a red-tail boa constrictor... Beauty of a snake
  19. Ag it's really just a matter of having a bit of fun... Another reason why the prizes must be fun and not worth causing a fight/fuss over... Perhaps a price limit of a couple hundred bucks on each prize. As the year goes if a particular thread fits one of the cats, submit it and forget about it.. by the end of the year, there'll be a collection of submissions which can be sorted by mods/admins... No reason for it to get messy. We're all grown ups here, mostly.
  20. Coolbeans I'm happy to help with some forms (can use Google forms) to capture submissions for category ideas (can set a date limit for submission of category ideas) and then actual submissions to those categories during the year... Mod's, let me know if I must do this?
  21. I've seen it around on other forums and I reckon it's actually a fun idea. Basically forum members come up with some suggestions for 'categories' of prizes: Biggest Troll, Best gag on a noob (nail polished chains, for eg ), most shameless self promotion, most active user - whatever really... During the year, moderators/members can submit their entries to these categories and and the end of the year, by means of a thread with a poll, winners can be chosen/submitted. It can be done for a laugh, but what would be awesome, is if some of the shops who often post items for sale - CWC, ASG etc - would get on board and supply prizes for the winners of each category. Doesn't have to be anything massive, but something small, just for the heck of it. Thoughts?
  22. I make a habit of verbally greeting, or at least just putting a hand up to wave at a fellow cyclist. I've found guys very friendly and by far the majority greet back.
  23. It's a site for local cycling tour adventures. They're organizing the Makro/Bestmed race on 9 Sep here in PE. Most hacks are, in my experience. They're mostly "i was here" type hacks and not generally malicious. When I used to deploy sites on windoze servers, they'd get hacked often and they'd normally just rename your existing home page and upload their own.
  24. http://leisurecycletours.com/ Eish Left a message on Shane Bradfield's mobile just in case they hadn't noticed yet. Stupid hackers.
  25. Well maybe this is the start of it
