  1. Sorry yes, road bike trip
  2. Thanks very much... Have mailed her
  3. In your position, I'd go with spinning.. At least keep your legs "cycling fit" and you can sit up and not use your wrist... My 2cents worth
  4. wow, that's perfect.. I'll Google more details... thanks!
  5. Will most likely spend a couple days in CT and then fly back, but will ping you if we change plans!
  6. JHB to CT? That sounds epic too... Would be great to meet up and do it with a bunch. Thanks!
  7. Ya the planning is really just so that we can end our day's ride in a town decent enough to spend the night in.. IE plan where we'll spend each night. Haven't thought of routes too much yet, but yes R62 would probably be the route we'd take... staying off the main highways and plenty of li'l towns to spend the night in.
  8. Seriously considering the implications of a 10 day cycle from PE to CPT… Average ±100km's a day, 2 rest days in between… Could be fun, ya? Anyone else done a ride like this? Thoughts?
  9. Quite dig this...
  10. It's a road event. Very pretty...
  11. No, it uses the GPS constantly, obviously, but the data is only sync'd once at the end of the ride. So it saves the data as it goes, and when you click 'end ride', it then pushes all that data to the site.
  12. Did my longest ride yet yesterday. 91km's in preperation for the Makro / Best Med race on the 10th of September. Mapped out the route and did it with a mate of mine ("coverly"). http://cl.ly/3P3M2G2j403m0W3o3R1f/route.png The route is beautiful - a nice farmlands route and then back through Maitlands and along the beachfront. The main climbs are "The Wall", followed by an epic down hill before you ride towards Maitlands and then do the well known Maitlands Climb. However the real bastard climb of the route was the Old Seaview road, before turning right onto Chelsea Road where the climb continues without letup and steepens even further. A climb like this at the 80km mark was insanely tough. http://cl.ly/0v431A243r001V3L471T/analysis.png Definitely want to do it again before the event. The views make it worth the pain Full breakdown of the route etc here: http://app.strava.com/rides/1316813
  13. I'm in.. Last year, I went from 138 to 95. Was epic... I've crept up to 115 over the last couple months but am already down to 112 since starting cycling. Keen to get down to 90kg. I'm 1.87m and big boned
  14. I'll find out tomorrow when I ride them for a long distance, but I fear they *might* be half a size too small.. So if anyone's a 45/45.5 and wants a pair, let me know and perhaps you buy a 46/46.5 and we'll swap? PM me if the above scenario suits you...
  15. http://images.instagram.com/media/2011/08/20/a0ff7e3baa06468faf9db68db2795c2a_7.jpg Picked 'em up this morning... Can't wait for tomorrow's 90km cycle to put them through their paces.
  16. Great feedback, thank you both
  17. Sis on you guys for taking advantage of a gullible cycling n00b
  18. Ok, so I must just get used to the slightly "loose" feel?
  19. Hey guys Just installed some new KEO 2 Max pedals. Using the provided cleats, there's quite a bit of left/right play on the pedal. I prefer a rigid 'grip' as this is what I had with my previous setup. Is this a 'tweakable' setting on the cleats? Or just how they are?
  20. hectic... would never have guessed nail polish. So the trick basically, is to only do it on the ouside facing edges, not the middle bits that make contact with the cassette? (excuse my noob explanation of those bike parts)
  21. Yeah and considering I'm wanting a white chain, keeping it clean is a considerable factor...
  22. for real? Nail polish? and it doesn't cause issues with jamming or anything? I mean as I see it, the paint'll dry in the gaps and jam stuff up?
  23. Happy Friday all... I've seen a few pics of bikes that have colored chains, most recently: Do stores sell them colored or are you guys spraying them yourselves?
  24. I did a social training ride the other morning and met a bunch of new people in the cycling world. So I dont think being part of a physical club is the only way to meet new people.
