UPDATE: Thanks for all the well wishes, my dad is doing OK under the circumstances. He's got an appointment with a Neurologist tomorrow, and until then he has to keep fairly still. We have managed to track down an eyewitness who saw it all. While my dad was lying in the road he took a photo, in which was a cyclist standing by the car to prevent a possible quick getaway - got his details from the organizers with his race number. The driver was definitely at fault and my dad will probably be opening a case against him.

That was my dad (TinyK's father-in-law). From what we could gather from what others told him is that the corsa got impatient sitting behind truck in right hand lane and overtook - not being able to see past truck as he went and hit him. Learner driver too. He's got compression fracture in T12 and L1. If anybody saw it happen and can give a statement it will be greatly appreciated as their version of the story is that he swerved in front if the car.....yet the car was stopped slightly diagonally in the lane.

Seems like we'll have to miss out this year Will spread the word though!
