  6. No the bikes wasn't insured, but I offered other services to the guy for I am in the bicycle industry, but while I inspected/fixed the bicycle I noticed the same color paint under the saddle than the hubs. According to the guy, the saddle that came with the bicycle when he bought it was a broken beyond repair cheap saddle (had a Specialized Romin when stolen), so he fitted one of the saddles that was lying in his garage?? Looks a bit suspicious to me! I know one of the farmers in the area where we got bike-jacked, who also helped us to go and look for the bikes. The farmer contacted the guy to quote him on a new cover for the farmers pool. They randomly started chatting about cycling and the guy told the farmer about the bicycle he just bought and said he bought a Nicolai (there are like 5 Nicolai's in the country)for R2000. So the farmer told him our story and he contacted us. Apparently he saw the bike at his local Spar on the back of a car. The "owner" of the bike said he wanted to sell the bike to buy a new/ different bicycle. I will post pics soon.
  7. Myself, my dad and my younger brother got bike jacked on the 31st of January '12. I got it back from a guy who bought it and found out about our only story after he bought it. The people who stole our bikes spray painted my red Hope hubs silver and all the other red anodized bits black. Is there a way to remove the spray paint without damaging the rest of the bicycle's paint job? Your help will be appreciated...
  8. Here is the race results for XCOSA.CO.ZA Race Series #2 Reults 28_04_12.pdf
  9. Yes for Saturday 28 April participants and spectators will not be charged the usual R25 entry fee, but that is entry to fountains only, not Groenkloof. So entry to Foutains is FREE!!
  10. Yes and yes! I'll be done marking the course tomorrow afternoon, so from then on it's open to the public (still need to pay R25 at the gate though). Secondly the first race starts at 8:30am, by then I want everyone off the course, before that you are wecome to do a few practice laps.
  11. Weather SA Says sunshine weather ahead!!
  12. See the new newsletter attached, it's a full on XCO race as per UCI rules. Each lap has about 85m of ascent, so it's not a hard route but fast and flowing! The idea is to get more people to ride XCO and proof that it's not necessarily difficult and or technical, but fun! So we start with an easy route at first and then gradually increase the technical standard of the route throughout the series. We offer great prizes and a great atmosphere for the day, so be sure to bring the whole family (riders and spectators enter for FREE on race day). Also we accept entries on the day, before 9am. I'm off to go and mark the route this morning, so from tomorrow on-wards you are MORE than welcome to go and ride the course.
  13. Entries are open and we accept entries on the day as well. Come and enjoy the day with us!
  14. What did you think of this weekends XCO GN Provincials at fountains? Pretty challenging route. I struggled to find the "Flow" on the route, is that a skills related issue or fitness?
  15. It's called the brain, it's inertia valve system that takes away that bobbing feeling. So the idea is to make it as responsive as a hardtail with the added efficiency and comfort of a dual suspended bicycle. But don't mistake it for a lockout system! The shock stays 100% active all the time and can't be locked out - because of the brain it doesn't need one
  16. I think it depends on the type of riding that you are doing and reason for doing that specific riding. If you want to be one of the best, then you've got to fold both aspects in smartly. Because both is integral part of riding and really can't have the one without the other. If you're just starting out maybe it's better to focus on skills first and then build conditioning in a bit later?? I could be wrong, any comments?
  17. Have a look here https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/114405-event-xcosacoza-race-series-2/ We've addressed all the criticism we got and now have a new and improved race with line entries as well.

  19. Hey Guys Sorry for the delay, Pierre was going to send all the details through on Tuesday night. But we got bike jacked on Tuesday afternoon, they shattered Pierre's left ulna and stole our bikes and cellphones. He was in the hospital ever since, tomorrow morning is his second operation. So he WILL get back to all the winners, most likely over the weekend! Hope you understand.
  20. Hi Guys Please see attached PDF for the results of our first XCOSA.CO.ZA race, due to the hiccups mention in the earlier notice on this thread we could only process the first three positions in each category. Thank you for all your input. I'm working hard to iron all the hiccups out and will definitely keep all your suggestions in mind for a better and more fun Race #2! See you on the 28th of April 2012 for the race. Remember the skills workshop before the race, more details will follow soon! Results_01_12.pdf

  22. We do have a seeding system, but we don't use SAS numbers though. For the first race there will be a batch start for each category and we will use the results from the first race to determine the next race's seeding
