  1. Once again, for last year, you're right, the food was a disaster. However, with all due respect, It's not as easy as you make it out to be. We all have tasks to perform on the day and to drop everything to run and put up a "stand" would jeopardise the actual race. Like I said, we tried, we got someone there with a stand in less than 2 hours and still, it was terrible. Each 24 hour we run comes with it's own challenges. I always offer anybody who is interested to volunteer with the Paige Project and you will see what goes on behind the scenes. Thanks for the feedback.
  2. What I am saying is that last year, 2 hours before the event, the vendor said he would not make it. How are we supposed to handle that? We did get someone there but he was inadequately prepared, hence the disaster. And we did take accountability for that and apologised.
  3. With all due respect, the problems with food were not similar to last year. Yes last year was a disaster when the food vendor dropped us 2 hours before the event. I don't understand why some people don't get this! This year hot food and refreshments was available right into the night. Prego rolls, wraps, bacon and egg rolls etc...were selling so fast that the vendor had to make several runs to fetch supplies. All the profit from this went to The Paige Project which was a ton of money.
  4. We apologise for not announcing the the winners of this category at first. The organisers were awake for over 24 hours and these things unfortunately can happen.
  5. For the record, Eric is offered every year to run the restaurant during the 24 hour and ever year he turns it down because he can't staff it for the entire duration. Also, if you followed the updates and Facebook page, you will know that pizza was never on offer. Once again, we welcome volunteers every year to come on board and see what it takes to run this event.
  6. The 24 hour has just been listed on Discovery Vitality, Easy way to earn loads of points after the race!

  13. We're working on it. It's the first time we've used this weekends timekeepers and the protocols are different.
  14. Believe it or not, The Paige Project did organize a massage tent but the lady involved had to fly to Iceland due to a family emergency!
  15. Wow! I would love to know who said that to you! That's rude and uncalled for. Sorry about that. We never instructed anyone to ration the drinks!
  16. Fantastic! Thank you for your support! Please note that we do take your comments seriously!
  17. I did take it constructively. However please understand, the 24 Hour in an immense undertaking to organize. Unless you are actually involved, you will never understand. You are welcome to volunteer your time next year and experience it first hand. Your feedback is welcome though!
  18. That's nothing! The race director had his bike stolen on Saturday afternoon. It was leaning on the gazebo about 10 meters away from timekeeping right next to the PA system. Stolen right in front of everyone's noses!
  19. Hi BrettMTB Sorry if you had issues with the charging station. I think we will have to mark it better next time. All I know is that is was there right through the event. I packed it away personally at about 3PM on Sunday. I also noticed that someone had helped themselves to one of the strip plugs!
  20. Thanks for the comments. As we've said, we were extremely upset with the catering company that let us down. It's embarrassed us and we apologize! We will do our best to bring an even better event next year!
  21. Easier said than done. A backup caterer would have to have stock on hand with all of the equipment and staff ready to go for the entire weekend! It's as I said, the caterer booked let us down at the very last minute! I would also like to add...last year, the people who catered where VERY organised, had everything on sale and ended up having major losses as hardly anyone bought food because it seemed everyone came with their own food. As far as organization is concerned, we agree, the catering was a major disappointing but we believe all other aspects were in place and enjoyed by most. We will endevour to prevent problems like this from happening again which is why we are already in agreement with Erik of the the Cheese Farm to take over the catering. We hope to see you again!
