  1. exactly. But patience is a virtue I hear..
  2. Damn, this is not what I wanted to hear currently riding one that's even bigger than the too-big one I want to buy, and I've been getting along fine on it, but maybe I just don't know how good it could be. ok ok, will try and hold out thanks
  3. apparently short people don't sell their bikes. If I get a bike with a frame size an inch or 2 bigger than "recommended", am I seriously handicapping myself or is it something you can live with?
  4. Hi Cat as has been said, everyone has there favourite bike people - mine are crown cycles on landsdowne road (carry on past olympic) - rip-off factor is low & they know what they're on about If you can find someone to check it out for you, second hand is a good way to go - will get way more bang for your buck. Keep in mind you can always upgrade once you know if you love it or not (if you buy second hand you wont lose much when you resell either, if you look after it) have fun!
  5. i.e. if I'm getting left behind or not - can you look up the ave speed/ time for your seeding group from last years race somewhere? And a related point: if you suspect you are going to be left behind, do you think its worth dropping back a group or 2 to increase enjoyment factor, or rather sticking with it & enjoying the faster wheel-suckerage victims?
  6. Keep in mind everyone's times were waay better than norm last year due to weather. Even if you did well, relatively speaking it may not have been an improvement. Still, R - YY seems a bit harsh...
  7. First single letter seeding - 7:12. Whoop!
  8. shot, thanks
  9. Thanks! No problems with keeping it on the spirit of critical mass & off fb etc, but some sort of on-the-sly signage around town or something would be useful at least - if you have to reeeeeally want to go to even get a hint of if/when it happens, seems like that also misses the point. Thanks for info
  10. Bump! as I said, unreasonably hard... No one have any details?
  11. Came across this article a while back - give it a read if you're thinking of trying to get your partner riding http://lovelybike.blogspot.com/2010/05/so-my-husband-wants-me-to-get-bike.html (and please note I said 'partner', not wife - this works both ways boys)
  12. Is start time/ place still Baxter at 6:45? Maybe someone who's in the loop could start a facebook page or something (I see Jhb has one) with details - it seems unreasonably hard to find any actual info about this from more recently than 2010, which makes it hard to join in unless you know someone who goes along already. Just a thought. Thanks in advance for info
  13. Ha. Thanks for the thoughts - ninja gear sounds like a plan. Will investigate TM mountain bikers as a backup though
  14. Hi all, in light of various mugging incidences (although it seems to have been quieter the last month or so?), when do you think there's likely to be the most traffic at Rhodes mem round to deer park area? - presuming that more users means it'd be a bit safer at those times. Obviously you can never say never, & I realise riding alone is not the way forward, but still - thoughts?
  15. Thanks for all the suggestions, will check them out! (saw that cwc offer just after I posted, but no reply as yet). Ja I did actually pick up a pair at the first ascent sale last weekend, but they aren't very nice it seems - padding is pretty weird - fine (kind of) for a day ride but I want them for touring & they're not going to cut it.
  16. Being on a budget, seems difficult to find new shorts (ladies) that aren't going to break the bank, and it's starting to get urgent. Anyone know of places in CT that might be good value for money, seeing as main stream doesn't seem to be cutting it? (aiming for budget on the budget but not too budget on the bum, if you know what I mean:) thanks!
