  1. Would like to know if its really as easy as tuning and playing with the small screws on the FD and RD of a Shimano groupset?

Having problems to shift to the smalles ring on the RD, the chain seems to slip and struggels to stay there.

Do you guys think one can lear how to do a propper job over the internet of in words?
  2. Can one say that the higher price guys don't waste/spend their time on the hub that much or at all, and the cheaper guys got way to much time on the hub??

This will stir things up a bit... (the bosses and CEO's can afford these stuff, and the normal employee cant afford it and now moans about it on the hub)
  3. Winters 3 Options --- In better/good days, take your road bike out (if your a roadie)

    Bad/Good days - MTB

Too windy and raining 2 hard - IDT and Rollers

On the Rollers you can push a big gear for 45min and then your wasted. IDT - very boring (maby watch a cycling video thing or man, I don;t know, just try and not fall asleep on the IDT.
  4. there is no under R10 000 option ?

    Asgree. Ouch

I know I didn't put on a under 10 K bike. Mostly because the new prices are so high and under 10K is either 2nd hand or very low down on the range.

Also have a under 10K road bike and its great, but its a older version
  5. Mampara - you might be right about the mass production' date=' but there is a differance between lower groupos and DA or Record. Have 105 and had a few rides with DA - huge differance 4 me.
    [/quote']

okay, take the Ti and now carbon bits out of a DA/Record groupsets, why are they better then lower end? Make the parts that work you have a winning formula. Sell 100 000 groupsets and not 400 000, 300 000, 200 000, 100 000 groupsets as model prices increase. All carbon frames come from the same place. Giant alone produces 100 000 plus a year, so why are they still expensive.

Everything that is not hand made and take 20+ man hours to make should be cheap(er).

    ..

Yep, your right. but ppl pay that so the companys are just pumping what they can get. aggree that bikes are overpriced and you don;t really buy a better bike. my point on the groupo is that DA is much smoother and fater that the lower groupos same goes for Record. thats why I would pay more for those.

Don't mind the weight factore at all, just easier and smoother.
  6. Mampara - you might be right about the mass production, but there is a differance between lower groupos and DA or Record. Have 105 and had a few rides with DA - huge differance 4 me.

For carbon frames - yep mostly the same nowadays, but groupos and wheels- price makes a differance. Over 35 or 40 K is a waste for me again. don't have near the half of that but just saying.

Some ppl are willing to pay much more than the normal market price.

Friend got a cycle shop, The PINARELLO PRINCE - RRP is R 120 K, they buy it for R 80 K odd. Just shows how many ppl would pay anything to be on top of the style list. CRAZY stuff
  7. Most of the value for money bikes are way down on the chart. I'm willing to spend up to 40K per bike, more on the road side.

Would be interesting to see what you guys think , either you have the money or not.

Come on - all of us has got limits to what your willing to pay for something. I see a lot of old oomies buying really expensive stuff and they cant ride for sh&t, but thats their problem.

    LOL
  8. This is K&K news every day / week. When will this end?  Do you guys think that its only because there are a lot of people out training for the argus? OR

Drivers / taxis just driving worse?

In other words - these people that are hit while cycling, do you cycle during the rest of the year aswell, or they just on the road for argus? I know it can happen to anyone and I don't want to sound clever about it, but some of the people I see on the road got really bad bike skills.

Still sad and bad to hear these stories.

    SAfe ride ppl
  9. Just to see how many of you trained during the holidays / Desember month.

I had problems with my leg end of last year and could only start training again at the start of the year. Had to stop on a really strong form. Training for just over a month now and feeling the effect of good training.

    Impoving even more.

Hope you guys reach your argus goals and enjoy the rest of the summer cycling season

  10. Buy yourself Rollers and only train indoors when its really dark or if its raining. For the rest of the year head out and ride outside - for us roadies I MTB more often during the winter.

Rollers got a more realistic feel to it and adds to your leg speed and helps to improve your pedaling.

  11. hey' date=' when is this ride? Sorry to lazy to read through all 17 pages. At work have to look busy, haha[/quote']

just go to post no 1 Wink

aaaahh thanx ORCA, saw it after I posted. So small on the top corner, missed it.

    ThanxLOL
  12. Any one know what will be the best option to look for ? Price R1500 - R3000.

Looking for a nice shoe to give comfort and also help with support for ITB problems. Looking for a nice pair, something Like Sidi or Specialized...

I'm in CT. It seems that most shops don't have stock at this stage or am I just looking in the wrong stores?

    Help Please
  13. So the trim is something I tune in myself or at a shop - or does this only refer to the fact that I need to either hold in to shift up to the bigger ring or do a small / half shift to move the FD to stop the chain from rubbing on the FD?

    Thanx for the help
  14. Hey

I've got a full Shim 105 bike. There is  a problem with the front shifting. If I want to shift up to the big blade I have to push again and somethimes hold for the chain to go up.

There are 2 blades, but I think that the STI is made for a 3 blade setup (Thats why there is a extra shift in there?)

What do I have to raplace to sort out this problem? The STI or the STI and the front derailer?

Or do you guys think its better to upgrade to a new groupo like Dura Ace 7800 or Ultegra 08 models?

    Thanx
