  2. night tider: It is a road bike.. Johan Bornman: I know almost nothing about servicing my bike. I'm still new to cycling and bicycles. Any recommendations for any books/ manuals that i can use?
  3. I was wondering... My bike is about 5/6 months old, and i haven't been able to ride much. When should i service my bike? Should I service it now before I start training again?
  4. I'm in KZN south coast at the moment, and I have also noticed that lack of control of youngsters on their ATV's with no parental supervision. This is also happening on the public roads in our area. Who should take responsibility to resolve this? Just a thought...
  5. I would love to have been there, but my boss (unfortunately my dad) wanted his dogs in Southbroom with him this weekend, and i had to drive down (step-brother in tow ) and I'm not going to get to ride at all this weekend
  6. So, i have decided that I would like to try my hand at MTB riding, but am not sure where to start. I'm not into the whole idea that I need to go and spend money again on another new bike. Should I settle for a cheapish 2nd hand bike and start there, or should i borrow a bike and start there? Advice please...
  7. GRRR... that is really irritating. Can't you try get it from somewhere else? I called around a bit to find my bike. Worth a try maybe
  8. ooooo..... those are really nice. How much did they set you back?
  9. Yes, i think they are the same pedals. http://www.thebikebarn.com.au/product.php?productid=16222&cat=268&page=1
  10. They were Shimano pedals... I'm not sure on the model. Will check when i get home and let you know
  11. Thanks guys. Yes I did take it out for a test ride on the weekend. Really enjoyed the -short- time on it thus far. I'm just having a problem trying to get the computer to go into sleep mode... It's getting interferance from something that is keeping it on waiting for.. well... I don't know. If anyone can help with a Blackburn Delphi 5.0, please let me know.
  12. I think it is only correct that I mention this The staff at Cyclelab Centurion (the other branches were unable to assist me in time) were absolutely great in helping me get what I wanted and spend more money than i budget for. They were polite and answered any questions that I had (I'm a beginner so I had a lot). My recommendation goes out to any beginner who is needing assistance with their set up.
  13. mmmmmm... she's so purdy.... it's to protect her from the couch
  14. So this morning I went and got my 'first' bike. *bounce bounce bounce bounce* Sorry for the bad quality, but my phone resized it and it went all fuzzy like. It's a Merida 901 just in case you might be wondering. jonnow2008-04-05 04:48:15
  15. It just really *&^%$# me off as I was quite excited to get my new gadget today. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
  16. Well, thanks for your input guys. I have decided on the 901-18 for my first bike, and ordered it as the shop didn't have my size. Then today i got told that the distributor wasn't able to deliver my bike as they were too blogged down due to most of their reps being at the Epic. I'm sure that you can figure out how happy I was. Regardless of what is going on, clients still want their stuff/products. Or so I think running a product delivery based business. Thankfully the boys at CycleLab in Centurion had one in stock and I will - if all goes to plan - take delivery tomorrow morning.... Enjoy the rest of the weekend guys... I know i will
  17. The general feeling that I seem to be getting is that the Merida is going to be the better bike to get. Unfortunately I am a medium, but thanks for the offer.
  18. The Merida is about R5800 and the Trek R6600
  19. haha.... I'm not sure on all the specs. I'm kinda new to this so i'm kinda winging my way through it all. Merida - http://www2.merida-bikes.com/en_ZA/Bikes.Detail.44 Trek - http://www.trekbikes.com/int/en/bikes/2008/road/1_series/12e/ The guy at the store told me that the Merida is better, but I've been in sales and sometimes someone's reason for selling something isn't your best interests. 20. I have decided to start cycling, and need some assistance on which road bike to purchase. I am looking at the Merida 901 or the Trek 1.2. Which bike is better/more value for money?
